gmUI

--- About

GmUI is a simple and clean UI for World of Warcraft.
I made it following the idea to use the settings in WTF folder less possible.
This because I usually install this UI on my sons accounts and guildmates.

The addons I have used to make it are:

BugSack
Bazooka
Butsu
gmActionBars
gmAggroMon
gmAutopsy
gmBagsSlots
gmChat
gmDurability
gmEquipSet
gmExp
gmFonts
gmGuildFriends
gmLm
gmLoot
gmMenu
gmMinimap
gmMoney
gmMounts
gmPets
gmProf
gmSay
gmShot
gmSpecs
gmSpeed
gmTweaks
gmVideoSwitch
idTip
Inventorian
NugCast
rButtonTemplate
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr
rLib
Shadowed Unit Frames

Other buttons theme (instead of rButtonTemplate_Gm_rs):
rButtonTemplate_Gm
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sz
rButtonTemplate_Zork (but with this I think you can't skin the auree in my UI because different naming)

All these addons can be found usually on:
WoWInterface
Curse

--- Install

There are a couple ways to install it.

-- Automatic install (windows only)

The install script can't be upload in this archive, because usually sites like WowInterface and Curse prevents to upload .exe/.cmd files. It is a right policy and I agree with it.

Btw:
I have made a little installer script that backups your old settings and then deploys the new interface: Install-gmUI.cmd .
You exec it, choose your WoW folder, your account profile and the script can automagically deploys the UI for you.
If someone wants to check it: http://files.disturbia-guild.com/gmui is welcome.

-- Manual install

- Backup the directory _retail_\Interface\AddOns then delete it
- Copy the gmUi Addons folder in _retail_\Interface\

The following steps are optionals but I strongly suggests to make them to try the settings of few addons:

- Backup the directory _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\SavedVariables then delete it
- Copy the gmUi SavedVariables folder in _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME

I have included the settings for some addons:

-- Bazooka (settings for font and textures)
-- gmFonts (change default fonts)
-- Shadowed Unit Frames
-- NugCast

-- Thanks and credits

I'd like to say thanks to all addon's authors and forum users that help me so much in writing my addons and this UI.

The URL parsing code in the chat frame is by: AnduinLothar, Kharthus
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloa...181-ReURL.html

Also I want to say thanks to Theras-Nemesis for the UI textures
--- FAQ & Common Editing

This new version of the UI is planned with the idea to re-use much of the Blizzard code as possible.
Some addons I have used before are not used anymore to reflect the new changes in the 8.2 game version.

Most of UI elements, i.e:

ActionBars
Chat
Minimap

are now managed by some simply addons that only "remove" unwanted elements.

My UI is planned to be use without so many changes by end users and for this reason it is not so easy to customize if you don't want to manage some lua files, but it is not difficult either.
It is planned with the idea that user have to understand the addon world and experiment a little bit with them.

More to follow

730-2018012801

Hi,

yes sure you can put the keybinding and modify the layout of it.

In file:
AddOns\rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr\theme.lua

you have to modify line 160:

Lua Code:
  1. 153: --hotkey
  2. 154: actionButtonConfig.hotkey = {
  3. 155:         font = { STANDARD_TEXT_FONT, 11, "OUTLINE"},
  4. 156:         points = {
  5. 157:                    {"TOPRIGHT", 0, 0 },
  6. 158:                    {"TOPLEFT", 0, 0 },
  7. 159:         },
  8. 160:         alpha = 0,
  9. 161: }

and put the alpha value from 0 to 1.

You can also changed the appareance and position modifying others parameters.

Please let me know.

I really like this UI but I have no idea about Lua.
A couple things I don't like is the r action bar which I have removed for bartender so np.
The nameplates are really nice looking but very confusing and I cant get used to them in a raid or group setting plus the Argus area as I cant see the enemy with so many bar nameplates all over and find it hard to target lol.
I have tried putting Kui nameplates but I'm having a hard time as your ones don't go away lol.
Is there an easy way to disable them for a noob Lua player.
Thanks again for the ui it is so neat and after using aggrommon for ages it's nice to get the whole setup.

Hi,
Unfortunately it is not possible to edit action bars without editing Lua vars inside the addon.
The only thing you can modify is the position layout that can be done by:

Lua Code:
  1. /rab unlock

then

Lua Code:
  1. /rab lock

when finished.

Btw what changes do you need ?

Hi,

you have to manually edit the file:
layout.lua in rActionBar_Gm folder.

Find this:

Lua Code:
  1. -----------------------------
  2. -- Bar3
  3. -----------------------------
  4.
  5. local bar3 = {
  6.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOM", A.."Bar2", "TOP", 0, 0 },
  7.   frameScale      = 1,
  8.   framePadding    = 2,
  9.   buttonWidth     = 40,
  10.   buttonHeight    = 40,
  11.   buttonMargin    = 4,
  12.   numCols         = 12,
  13.   startPoint      = "BOTTOMLEFT",
  14.   fader           = nil,
  15. }
  16.
  17. -- don't want it :)
  18. -- rActionBar:CreateActionBar3(A, bar3)

and change the last line removing the double dash (--) so it becomes:

Lua Code:
  1. -----------------------------
  2. -- Bar3
  3. -----------------------------
  4.
  5. local bar3 = {
  6.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOM", A.."Bar2", "TOP", 0, 0 },
  7.   frameScale      = 1,
  8.   framePadding    = 2,
  9.   buttonWidth     = 40,
  10.   buttonHeight    = 40,
  11.   buttonMargin    = 4,
  12.   numCols         = 12,
  13.   startPoint      = "BOTTOMLEFT",
  14.   fader           = nil,
  15. }
  16.
  17. -- don't want it :)
  18. rActionBar:CreateActionBar3(A, bar3)

Then change the stancebar and petbar from:

Lua Code:
  1. local stancebar = {
  2.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOMLEFT", A.."Bar2", "TOPLEFT", -3, 0 },

to

Lua Code:
  1. local stancebar = {
  2.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOMLEFT", A.."Bar3", "TOPLEFT", -3, 0 },

and

Lua Code:
  1. --petbar
  2. local petbar = {
  3.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOMLEFT", A.."Bar2", "TOPLEFT", -3, 0 },

to

Lua Code:
  1. --petbar
  2. local petbar = {
  3.   framePoint      = { "BOTTOMLEFT", A.."Bar3", "TOPLEFT", -3, 0 },

Basically put Bar3 as anchor instead Bar2.

Probably you should have to reduce the size of the buttons too...
Let's experiment a little bit ... Let me know.

Remeber that after a changes in lua files you should do:

Lua Code:
  1. /reload
  2. /rsim reset

or

Lua Code:
  1. /reload
  2. /gmui reset

Enjoy.
