Heroes

Version: 0.85
by: Aerea [More]

This addon allows you to give a rating to a player, and will share this automatically with everyone on your realm.

The features

Heroes contains the following features:

  • Easily rate any player on the realm; horde or alliance
  • Synchronise your ratings with everyone on your realm
  • View people's ratings in tooltips & LFM Frame
  • Automatically scan your party/raid for low ratings!
  • Sends a notice when your addon is out-of-date
  • Various built-in protections against abuse
  • ... and more!

Remember: the more people that use this addon, the more useful the ratings are! So if you like it, share it on!

The uses

So, in which cases would this addon be useful?
  • When leading/joining a PUG-raid... just count how often you have problems with people in VoA, Naxxramas, etc.
  • When just doing easy heroics... just count how often you failed an achievement you wanted because of extremely low DPS or bad attitudes.
  • When you wonder if the person who applied to your guild is worth your time
  • If people become aware of this addon, perhaps some people will behave better towards eachother? </utopian thinking>

UPDATE: v0.72 contains a fix that applies to Horde players only. Sorry for the trouble, Hordies, you weren't able to vote in v0.71.

v0.85:
Notice: For help on fixing channels, type /hero fix
Fixed: Global channel will be joined later.
Fixed: AFK tag will not be removed over and over.
Fixed: Heroes seems to be WIM-compatible now!
Added: Reminders to rate can now be turned on/off

v0.84-:
Notice: Do not reinstall older versions after using v0.8+,
Notice: This version will not share data with v0.7!,
Notice: Alts will have to personally synchronise now,
Fixed: Fixed notifications for guildless people,
Fixed: Synchronise requests are now more spread out,
Fixed: Data will now only be shared on your realm,
Fixed: AFK/DND/Ignore/Faction messages are supressed,
Fixed: Inability to rate for some Horde players,
Fixed: A rare error that could occur when syncing,
Added: Search function in the database,
Added: Ratings are now split in two: Attitude & Skill,
Added: Notes can be added to ratings now!,
Added: Option for very detailed tooltips,
Added: Option for a minimap icon,
Added: New frame with player details, including notes,
Update: Updated options UI to be easier to understand,
Update: Synchronising should go faster now,
Update: A lot of code optimizations done,

Will this be expanded to include cross server with the new lfg tool?

Also, as I haven't used this yet, is there right click access to the mod via unitframes?

Anyways, I noticed a bug - I got someone in my data called "Reis". Now, when I mouse-over a player called "Reisa" it shows the score of Reis, rather than int's own!

Would it be possible in the next release to put a green "!" or red "!" next to the player name in chat depending on our rating for them?

Similar to how DoIKnowYou did it, was very helpful.

Thanks!

Originally it was just one local DB, but I split these up for a, well, lets say security reason (revoting on alts). I will combine the tables in the next version however

Agreed. I'd like to have these globally available to all chars on my account

Interesting code comments

-- Thinking of the American way of voting by adding people that don't exist to your name?
-- This addon will then destroy your items and quit/disband your guild, kicking as many people as possible.
-- That's the consequence of cheating.
--
-- Hi, btw <3. Thanks for using Heroes, but now f*ck off out of my code.
--
-- NO PEEKSIES BEYOND THIS POINT. [followed by some crude ASCII art of a middle finger]
Interesting code comments...

No errors or anything of that nature, just cant send whispers at all. I spent 45 min going though each and every setting for Wim as well as Hero's and just couldn't find the conflict. (I'm letting Wim's author know of this as well, just as a heads up)
However disabling one or the other allows whispers to function again. Curiouser and curiouser.
I tried finding the cause of this and downloaded the latest WIM, but it seems to work (now anyway). I did make some changes in Heroes' behaviour that may have caused it to work in v0.85 (release is pending). Could you try v0.85 when it's active on WoWInterface, please? It may not work in v0.84 yet, not entirely sure...

Some addons have embedded parts of the Ace3 libs, but I chose not to do this, because generally having a lot of addons embedd libs means you have a lot of garbage (multiple copies of the same lib). I would recommend downloading v0.84 and Ace3

Call me unflexible, but I keep writing into the HeroesChannel by accident, because I think I'd write in General.

Is this a known fact? Can I do something against that on my own?
If not, could you look into it? Pleaaaase?
Thanks for your comment I'll look into this as well.

A temporary fix could be as follows: Generally, it should delay 1 min with joining the heroes channel, what you can try is /leave 1, /leave 2, /leave 3, and then /join general, /join trade, and then as last, /join heroesglobal. It should then be the last channel, rather than /1.

I'll try to fix this so it does this anyway in the new version

Well I'm off to grind out my dailies. Ill be checking in to see if this conflict can be hurdled and get these two addon's playing nice so I can give Hero's a good workout and perhaps refer it to my guild.
Happy Gaming and thanks for all the hard work you do. ^.^
Heya! Thanks for your message. I'm gonna download WIM (I used to use it too!) and try to find the bug asap. It's probably somewhere in Heroes... I'll let you know when I find out!

I do set a filter on outgoing chats somewhere, maybe that's the issue. I think the whispers will arrive in either case btw, just not show up in your frame, but I'll reply here as soon as I find out the cause/fix

Thanks for the comments <3
