Clean Icons - Original  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Shadowlands 9.0.2 (Build 36639)
by: suicidalkatt [More]

I got tired of seeing old pre-BC styled icons mixed with BC and WoTLK icons so I decided to batch process all the icons into a clean format.

... have been altered.

This may seem like a large filesize, however this does not use any cpu usage or additional memory usage than simply running without it.

This also extends to any addon that uses the default game icons such as Power Auras Classic.

What applications did you use for the processing ?
I have so far been unable to find something able to save into BLP format.

SK, these are AWESOME. Thanks so much for the effort.

To those of you only interested in class ability/spell icons you can delete a large majority of these.

I removed:
* All "Achievement_<name>" - these are only seen when you look at your Achievement window
* All "INV_<name>" - these are all inventory items, most of which you see on the character sheet or in the loot window
* All "Item_<name>" - these are some misc other loot icons
* Most (NOT ALL) "Ability_Mount_<name>" - these are all mount icons, but a few of them are also spell icons

Mount icons to KEEP:
Ability_Mount_JungleTiger - aspect of the cheetah (hunter)
Ability_Mount_MountainRam - furious charge (pet ability)
Ability_Mount_PinkTiger - aspect of the beast (hunter)
Ability_Mount_UndeadHorse - on a pale horse (DK)
Ability_Mount_WhiteDireWolf - new moon (trinket spell), spirit wolf leap (pet ability)
Ability_Mount_WhiteTiger - aspect of the pack (hunter)

The Achievement and Inventory icons are a huge amount of these icons, so if you want to leave the mount ones you'll still take out a huge chunk of icons you'll hardly ever see by just getting rid of those 2 categories. It takes care of about 5,000 images and 20mb of space (if you're concerned about that sort of thing.)

Have I mentioned lately that I love you?

Edit: Little note, the desc page implies extraction to Interface/Icons. Since the archive includes the Icons directory, you may want to clarify that it should be extracted directly to \Interface.

Maybe I'll repackage a "lite" version or something for those not caring about every icon.

'Batch process' is taking them all and letting them undergo changes in a series.

In this particular, I created a photoshop action the would create the icon, save it and close the document all in one press.

After I got the action good, I used the automate > batch tool to then create all the other icons.

The only major problems I came across was finding a way to convert 6,296 images in one go. I ended up tryin a few different ways, ending up using XnViewer to convert them from blp to png and photoshop batch processed, then I used BLiPster to convert them from png to blp in one go.

The photoshop action was pretty straight forward.

Edit: I really shouldn't post from my droid... terrible run ons.
