Squeenix Scope Manual

This is a short(er than usual) manual for the usage of this plugin.

I. Overview

This is just a quick thing I threw together because I wanted more control over the minimap. I made it as a Squeenix plugin because that made the most sense, as Squeenix is a minimap Addon and this plugin just furthers minimap control.

Basically, what Scope is designed to do is provide more intuitive control over the map zoom, the kind of thing that would prove handy for everyone, be they miners, herbalists, hunters or whomever else. Hold a modifier key and move the cursor onto the map, the map goes to full zoom. Leave the map and the map returns to normal.

That's the basic principle anyway, from there I added the ability to have a delay instead of the minimap popping back immediately to its original size and keybindings. I also had Scope remember the default map zoom level so it needn't be reset over sessions, you can find your favourite zoom points and stick with them!

Please note that this plugin does not include FuBar support, that's because Squeenix doesn't and I felt that including such would be going beyond the scope of this plugin (pun not intended). The alternative to using the command-line (if you don't want to is Niagara, which I recommend.

Note: If you're using a map note system that isn't Cartographer, please read the compatability section below.

II. Core Elements

Everything that Scope does is contained within the Core, there's not much more to say here so I'll just get right to the contents and the commands.

Contains...

- Elements > Squeenix_Scope_Core
- Locales > Locales_enUS > Squeenix_Scope_Core

Commands (Core) ...

Niagara Name: Scope Modifier > [Shift|Alt|Control|None]
Command: /squeenix scopekey [Shift|Alt|Control|None]
Description: This sets the modifier for triggering scope when mousing over the minimap, the default setting is shift. Note: while this option is set to 'None' Scope won't respond to the mouse, this is for those who prefer the keybinding.

Niagara Name: Scope Point > [0-5]
Command: /squeenix scopepoint [0-5]
Description: This sets the point for scope to zoom into on mouseover, if you don't want it to zoom in fully, you can use this option to tweak it to your desire. Even for an inverse scope, if you wanted. The default setting is 5 (full zoom).

Niagara Name: Scope Delay > [0-30]
Command: /squeenix scopedelay [0-30]
Description: This sets a delay for scope, when leaving the minimap scope normally immediately reverses the zoom, with a delay it'll wait for the specified amount of time before doing that. To disable the delay, set the time ot 0, 0 is also the default setting.

III. Notes

Compatability

This plugin was designed with the use of Squeenix and Cartographer in mind, now Squeenix is required but the latter isn't. However, only compatability with Cartographer map notes has been included thus far. If you use another map mod then you might see strange behaviour on mousing over notes, such as the scope system resetting itself.

If that's the case then drop by the WoWI page where you found this plugin and let me know which map note system you're using. If it uses a unified naming system where I can catch all of the notes and note-related things in one go then I'll add in support for it.
