Super Duper Macro  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.2.5.0
by: hypehuman, spiralofhope

This addon is under new maintenance

WowInterface will be kept up-to-date, but still needs to be cleaned up a bit. The source code, a list of all past releases, documentation, and issue tracker, can be found at:

https://github.com/spiralofhope/SuperDuperMacro

This description still needs to be audited.

----

To view recent changes, click the "Change Log" tab at the top of this page.

Open the in-game interface by typing /sdm

This addon allows you to create macros beyond the 255-character limit, and even beyond the 1023-character macrotext limit. However, no individual line in a macro may be more than 1023 characters long (you will get a warning). The number of lines is unlimited. Super Duper Macro also allows you to share macros with your friends in-game.

This mod allows you to make two types of macros:

  • Button macros are just like regular macros, but they can be as long as you want. You cannot make an unlimited number of them; they share a limit with your regular macros (36 global and 18 character-specific for each character).
  • Floating macros do not have buttons, and are accessed by /click. You can make as many of these as you want.
  • You can also make lua scripts of unlimited length that you can call using "/sdm run <name>" or via sdm_RunScript("name")

Suggestions and bug reports are always welcome. You can post comments on the wowinterface.com page for this addon, or if you want to add something yourself, you can upload it in the "Optional Files" tab.

Alternately, create a pull request to my GitHub repo: https://github.com/hypehuman/super-duper-macro

Special thanks to:
  • SuperMacro, which inspired the idea for this addon.
  • All the regulars on the UI & Macro forums, who taught me how to program for WoW.

Number of macros

I feel I'm missing something here. The addon page states it's possible to create 36 character-specific macros, but in-game I find I'm limited to 18 character-specific macros, with or without this addon. Am I in fact missing something, or is the addon page in error?

It's not that hard :O
You need winzip/winrar to extract the files. I'll just suppose you have one of those
1) Download the AddOn here! (Save it to where ever you can find it again, like your desktop)
2) Right click the file you just saved and press "Extract Files..." - You should get a small window with a destination path, your Computers Directory tree and some options.
3) Type in the complete directory of your WoW AddOns folder (Something that ends with ...\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns) - Or use the tree to get to it, which is alot easier mostly
4) Press "Ok" when you have the right directory selected, and watch it extract (or not if your pc is quick enough and it goes away to quick..)
5) Check the directory of your addons and look if SuperDuperMacro is in it.
6) (Re)Start World of Warcraft and log in to your account (not character yet)
7) Click the "AddOns" button in the left-bottom corner of your character screen. Check SuperDuperMacro if it's unchecked.
8) Log in to your character and enjoy

EDIT: You can also check this page for some help

Don't worry about it, since there were no comments in the time you were gone, their hasn't been a problem

As for not developing your addon while sick, rl > game So first get better, then work on the addon

Hope it wasn't too bad :O

Re: Re: Re: Re: castsequence and tooltips

Thanks for you help! I've updated the icon generator an I've put it in version 1.8.3, so it's time for a new round of testing. If could could, I'd love it if you would download the new version and test the new code in the same way.

Thanks!

Re: Re: Re: castsequence and tooltips

Patch 1.8.2 makes your button macros more likely to show their appropriate icons. I'm working on a solution that will eliminate the possibility altogether, but I need you to help me! It's just a couple easy steps, as detailed in this post.

I thought of a new feature for your addon: A way to make your own tooltip for a macro. Since you might have macro's with sick long texts, or just macro's like:
Code:
/cast Bloodrage
/cast Berserker Rage
And it would be nice to make your own tooltip like:
Code:
Cost: None - Instant Cast
- - - - -
Casts Bloodrage and Berserker
Rage at the same time.
Wouldn't this be nice?

Just like any other addon, just open it with winrar and save the SuperDuperMacro folder (not MAC OSX folder) into your "world of warcraft/interface/addons" folder. In vista it should've been changed, but I'm using vista and still saving my addons there, so I don't know about that.

For further info click here!
This link should help you install the addon further.

Turns out its LayMacroTooltip that was the culprit.
Just uploaded a little patch to fix this, and other potential problems
