Luggage  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.13
by: Nimbal [More]

Description
Luggage sorts the items in your inventory and bank into virtual bags. You can choose from a variety of filters to customize which items should be contained in a virtual bag. If you know Advanced Bags Plus, you'll be familiar with the concept.

Usage
You might want to temporarily switch on the "Beginner Tooltips". You can find this option in the Blizzard configuration menu under "Interface", then "Help".

Basic Setup
Luggage comes with a preconfigured bag bar for your inventory. However, you will probably want to reconfigure it to better suit your needs. Most options can be accessed via right-clicking.

Right-click a tab on the bag bar to edit the name or icon of this tab, remove it or add another tab to the bar. You can also add a bag to this tab from the dropdown.

Advanced configuration
You can access additional options in the Blizzard interface options (Esc -> "Interface"). Select the "Addons" tab and then "Luggage" on the left.

Bag Setup
Right-click a bag to edit the name or icon of the bag or remove it. You also have some additional options:

Defragment Inventory
This will compress your inventory physically by combining partial stacks. Depending on whether the bag is set up for displaying main bag items and / or bank items, it will defragment only the main bags and / or the bank.

Show Free Space
Here, you can select which kind of bag space should be displayed as a white number on the bag icon.

Show No. of Contained Items
Check this to have the bag show how many items (or stacks) it currently holds as a yellow number on the bag icon.

Combine Stacks
When this is checked, multiple stacks of items in this bag will be shown as one stack, i.e. when you have a 20 and a 19 stack of runecloth in your bag, it will be displayed as one stack with the size 39.

Note that this is only the display, the two stacks still take up two bag slots.

Also be aware that you will have to switch this option off when you want to split stacks. You can use shift-clicking to split stacks while "Combine Stacks" is on, but you won't be able to see the separate stacks.

Show Empty Slot
When this is checked, an empty slot where you can put new items will be shown in the bag. You will need this for splitting item stacks.

Filter usage
Each filter has three settings:

* Green (Items in this filter definitely belong in this bag)
* Red (Items in this filter definitely don't belong in this bag)
* White ("I don't care")

You can combine the filters to suit your needs. But keep in mind that red filters will always overrule green filters. Often, this is intuitive, but as always, there are exceptions.

You can also set a filter for a specific item by picking it up, holding shift and clicking on the bag you want to set the filter for. The color of the tooltip title will indicate the filter setting. Per-item settings will always overrule any other filter settings.

Example 1
You set the "Armor" filter to green and the "Rarity - Poor" filter to red. Now you will have all armor items in the bag, except the poor (grey) ones.

Example 2
You want all Quest Items in your main bags in one bag. Your first thought may be to set both the "Location - Main Bags" and the "Quest Item" filter to green, but then you'd have all items in your main bags in this virtual bag, regardless of whether they are quest items. In fact, you would have all items in your main bags plus the quest items in your bank in it. What you have to do is set the "Quest Item" filter to green, the "Location - Main Bags" filter to white and all other Location filters (currently only "Bank") to red. This way, all quest items belong into this bag, unless they are anywhere but your main bags. Got it?

Suggestions for filters are always welcome!

Look at the background of the bag windows. Bank bags should have a blue tint while inventory bags have a black background.

It actually is already, you can filter by "Location" -> "Guild Bank". I just haven't come around to putting a guild bank bag bar in the default options. I'll add one in the next version (no timeframe yet, sorry). If you can't wait, you can add your own bag bar in the option menu.

Lightbulb Type transposition

It looks like the Gems and the Ammunition 'Types' in the options are transposed. When setting up new bags for those items the opposite items are included in the bags; i.e. the ammo in the gem bag and the gems in the ammo bag...
Not a big deal though; just switched it to match what I wanted to see. Overall - this add on is great.

Hide when not empty

This looks like a known issue, but I wanted to provide my experience with this.

If I check in the global bag options, "Hide when empty", this seems to simply check the same option for all the sub-items. At this point, nothing will toggle with the "B" key, which I have bound to Luggage's "Toggle All Bags".

If I go into any of the sub-items and click the option off, the toggle starts working again; doesn't matter which one I click off, any one of them works. So it seems if all of the sub-items "Hide when empty" options are checked, the bags will not toggle.

One other thing I noticed and not sure why it happens, but when I choose a different profile than "char" (like for a specific character and realm), the Global Bag Options checkboxes disappear and are replaced by a "Layout" text box that I cannot interact with. All the sub-items still have the checkboxes, but now I can't toggle them globally. I haven't changed any of the bagbars or any other settings. Is this normal behavior and what is the text box for if I can't interact with it?

After further testing it seems that exiting the bags and re-opening them fixes most of the synchronization issues, or a reloadui.

Is there a way that when I add a new bag, it inherits the global options? I have to keep going back into the configuration to change each bag (say a new bank bag) to inherit the colors, show at bank, and disable animation every time even though those are already set in the global options.

I like the way you can make very specific bags, but the configuration synchronization seems to not really work.

Not trying to slam on the mod or anything, just pointing out some issues I am finding.

Thanks.

Did you reset your profile by chance? Maybe you have to reconfigure the bag placement frame ("/luggage", then "Change bag placement").

Confirmed that unchecking, then rechecking seems to fix the behavior, thanks.

2. Toggling all bags will be working again in the next version. [/b]
Interestingly, I just tried to toggle all bags on a different character, and it sort of worked. It opened all the bags, even the bank ones, and I wasn't at the bank

Also, the open with toggle all bags appears completely broken. I bound mouse button 4 to luggage's toggle all bags function, and hitting it does nothing, despite a number of the default bags having the open with toggle all bags checkbox checked.

Hide when empty doesn't seem to work for auto opening at the auction house, for me, at least. I just went there with the current version, and it opened two empty bags, Flasks & Elixirs, and Potions.

Not sure if you've seen the BetterItemCount addon, it's a really old one from cosmos, but does still function. It changes the "*" count text for >999 and changes to "A.Bk", i.e. 1.8k for my ammo stack instead of "*". Useful thing. That coupled with a small change to ItemButton.lua:
Code:
      frame.countText = getglobal(frame:GetName().."Count")
      frame.countText:ClearAllPoints()
      frame.countText:SetPoint("BOTTOMLEFT", frame, "BOTTOMLEFT", 0, 2)
      frame.countText:SetFontObject(NumberFontNormalSmall)
to decrease the font size of the count text, so it can show the larger number of digits, and Luggage's compression is slightly less ugly for massive amounts of an item, like arrows The small font is a bit uglier than the normal one though, so I'm not suggesting this be done upstream, I'll just continue patching it after I update

Loving the addon overall. Another little feature request that's probably not worth the hassle of implementing, but I'll throw it out there. The animation it does to show item gain/loss from a bag, it'd be cool if it could ignore ammo loss while I'm shooting things. It can get distracting seeing it flicker out of the corner of my eye

One thing that seemed like it might be useful is to let shift+click on a tab open/close all the bags in that tab.

Ah, no, I didn't. I expected that if it's going to disable my bags, it would at least open itself as an alternative. Having the default behavior make my bag keybinds do absolutely nothing, opening neither luggage or the default, is highly unintuitive. Imo, it should either leave the default bind behavior alone, or make them open luggage.

Suppressing empty bags is already in the works and will be in v1.11. As for the bags not opening when pressing shift-b, did you bind it to "Luggage - Open all bags" in the Key Bindings menu?

Feature idea: add an option to not automatically display bags which are 1) empty, and 2) aren't showing your empty slots, since just seeing a title on an empty window that you can't actually do much with is a bit silly, and if I buy something that ends up going into that category, I can always then open that bag manually.

Great addon, but for some reason the open with - open all bags feature isn't working for me. My shift-b and b binds do absolutely nothing.
