Ara Broker Guild Friends  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r97
by: Aranarth, MysticalOS

A Data Broker plugin that provides 2 blocks: one for guildmates & one for friends. These blocks show informative and interactive clickable tooltips. It's fast and lightweight.

Informations/screenshots are not up-to-date (and it's boring to do ).

It has the following functionalities on entries
- click guildmates or friends to whisp them.
- alt+click guildmates or friends to invite them.
- control+click friends to edit note.
- if you're an officier, you can control+click guildmates to edit their public note, and control+right click to edit officer's note.
- right click guildmates to sort the closest column.
- if you're an officer, you can click the MOTD to edit.
- middle click on friends to remove from friend list.
- control+mousewheel to resize tooltip.

And the following functionalities on blocks
- control+click to toggle hints so you don't have to remember all this crap.
- left click on guild block to toggle guild panel
- right click on guild block to toggle the guild notes column.
- shift+click on guild block to toggle guild name.
- left click on friend block to toggle friend panel.
- shift+right click on blocks to toggle total number of guildmates or friends.
- middle click on friend block to show the "add a friend" dialog box.

It shows
- check marks for grouped guildmates and friends.
- class icon (mainly to provide a column to sort) when not grouped.
- class colored names.
- level colored in grey, green, yellow, orange or red depending of your own level.
- zone colored in green, yellow or red depending of faction.
- public notes (and officer notes for guildmates if you have the rights).
- rank for guildmates.

If you have AddonLoader, the loading of this addon will be delayed.
If you have Skinner, this addon will be automatically skinned.

Patch 8.2 TOC
Preliminary handling of Retail vs Classic wow
Extremely ugly handling of fact that favorite friends kind of messed things up. Fix rare nil error if name isn't returned by GuildRosterInfo()
Improve CPU usage of realm stripping by only stripping online users instead of ALL users in guild every GUILD_ROSTER_UPDATE

r50
Fix error with level 25 guilds in patch 5.x
Removed all 4.x compatability code.
r49
Handle the name&surname being merged into one arg in MoP as well so we don't include battletags (as last names) on friends broker. It'll behave as it does on live and work as intended now.
r48
- Update apis for broadcast messages and battletags for MoP beta. Friends broker should once again work on beta while continuing to work on live.
r47
- Silence some errors while grouped. Checkboxes still only work while in a raid though. party groups don't detect properly.
r46
- Now compatible with WoW 5.x

r44
- Fixed a 4.3 issue due to an api change in player status now being returned as number value instead of localized strings.
- Added support for Diablo 3 recognition for RealID/BattleTag friends

r38
- Added guild XP (with an option to turn it off).
- Added an option to hide your own broadcast.

- Fixed "Notes" and "Rank" color options to correctly apply to first line.

r37
- Fixed battle.net broadcast dialog.

r33
- Added multi-level custom sort order (no config menu and not implemented for real friends). Set level 1 with RightClick, level 2 with Shift+RightClick, and level 3 with Alt+RightClick. Sort the same column to toggle ascending/descending order.
- Added an option to highlight the level 1 column. You can also edit the highlight color.

- Added options to filter hints, so you can display only forgettable ones. You can still uncheck the top level entry to turn everything off.

- Undocumented r32 change: friend/guild notes are now handled separatly (ie. you can show friend notes and hide guild notes).

r32

- Moved "modifier+click" block combo to config menu.
- Changed some default colors.
- Most colors are now editable (quite messy).
- Added confirmation dialog on real friend removal.
- Now using less CPU thanks to Vrul.

r29
- Updated LDB 1.1 from revision 3 to 4 (everything's fine, I'm just 2 years late xD).
- Fixed the "larger than usual" columns. I was taking the hidden titles into account.
- Fixed an issue where guildmates were shown instead of friends.
- Fixed colors being different between the first real friend and the second+. However, colors are still not set (it's the default, kind of ugly, yellow).

r28
- Finished the half-assed fix from r27 (Still no friend online to test, slackers!).

r27
- Fixed a silly mistake (wrong variable scope).

r23
- Now fully functionnal in combat (yay!).

r22
- Removed localization file, now using LOCALIZED_CLASS_NAMES_MALE and LOCALIZED_CLASS_NAMES_FEMALE global tables (added in WoW 3.2). Delete the previous folder before extracting this version or you will end up with a dead file.
- Fixed a rare and weird issue (hopefully).

r21
- Added Control+MouseWheel to resize tooltip (experimental).
- Optimized implementation of the scrollbar: move lines instead of redrawing the entire tooltip.
- Fixed a possible appearance of the scrollbar when it is not wanted.
- Changed the maximum number of entries shown to something adapted to your UI scale and options.

r14
- Fixed the possible leading space to the right of the tooltip when in group.
- Fixed the ruRU translation of Death Knight.
- Changed how to inherit fonts. Font addons will be able to dynamically modify them.

r9
- Changed the visuals for grouped guildmates & friends to dynamic check marks (from greyed out icon/names).
- Changed the background handling to be Skinner friendly.

r4
- Fixed an error when entering the friend block with a non-english client (sorry, no translations added).
- Fixed AddonLoader support (hopefully): block text should be set at load time.
- Added a toggle to show/hide guild notes: any non left mouse click on the guild block will do (right, middle, 4, 5).
- Added a visual effect to distinguish from grouped and ungrouped guildmates: those in your group are coloured in grey.
- Added Skinner support.

- Fixed AddonLoader support in toc file.
- Added a functionality so that an officer can control click a guildmate to edit its public note.
- Added support for "label" (guild name) and "value" (online/total) so that you can manage them separatly in your display (show/hide/etc).

that code doesn't work either. it's pretty much what i tried, it just returns the same person over and over

Code:
local function SetToastData( index, inGroup )
	local toast, bc, color = toasts[index]
	for index = 1, BNGetNumFriends() do
	-- information about one friend/toon is returned
		local presenceID, presenceName, battleTag, isBattleTagPresence, toonName, toonID, client, isOnline, lastOnline, isAFK, isDND, broadcastText, notes, isRIDFriend, broadcastTime, canSoR = BNGetFriendInfo(index)
    	for toonIndex = 1, BNGetNumFriendToons(index) do
		-- information for each toon the friend is playing on is returned after each successive loop
			local hasFocus, toonName, game, realm, realmID, faction, race, class, guild, zone, level, gameText, broadcastText, broadcastTime, canSoR, toonID = BNGetFriendToonInfo(index, toonIndex)
			local statusText = config.statusMode ~= "icon" and (isAFK or isDND) and (preformatedStatusText):format(isAFK and CHAT_FLAG_AFK or isDND and CHAT_FLAG_DND) or ""

			if broadcast and broadcast ~= "" then
				nbBroadcast = nbBroadcast + 1
				bc = broadcasts[nbBroadcast]
				bc.text:SetText(broadcast)
				toast.bcIndex = nbBroadcast
			else
				toast.bcIndex = nil
			end

			toast.presenceID = presenceID
			toast.unit = toonName
			toast.realID = presenceName
			toast.unitrealm = realm

			SetStatusLayout( --[[isMobile]]false, isAFK, isDND, toast.status, toast.name )
			client = client == BNET_CLIENT_WOW and WOW or client == BNET_CLIENT_SC2 and SC2 or client == BNET_CLIENT_D3 and D3 or 0
			toast.client = client

			if client == WOW then
				toast.faction:SetTexture"Interface\\Glues\\CharacterCreate\\UI-CharacterCreate-Factions"
				toast.faction:SetTexCoord( faction == "Alliance" and 0.03 or 0.53, faction == "Alliance" and 0.47 or 0.97, 0.03, 0.97 )
				zone = (not zone or zone == "") and UNKNOWN or zone
				toast.zone:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", toast.faction, "TOPRIGHT", TEXT_OFFSET, 0)
				toast.zone:SetTextColor( GetZoneColor(zone) )
				toast.sameRealm = realm == "" or realm == playerRealm

				if not toast.sameRealm then
					-- hide faction icon and move zone to level
					local r,g,b = unpack(colors.realm)
					zone = ("%1$s |cff%3$.2x%4$.2x%5$.2x- %2$s"):format(zone, realm, r*255, g*255, b*255)

					toast.class:SetTexture"Interface\\FriendsFrame\\Battlenet-WoWicon"
					toast.class:SetTexCoord( .2, .8, .2, .8 )
					toast.name:SetTextColor(.8,.8,.8)
				end
			elseif client == SC2 then
				toast.class:SetTexture"Interface\\FriendsFrame\\Battlenet-Sc2icon"
				toast.class:SetTexCoord( .2, .8, .2, .8 )
				toast.name:SetTextColor( .8, .8, .8 )
				toast.faction:SetTexture""
				zone = gameText
				toast.zone:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", toast.name, "TOPRIGHT", GAP, 0)
				toast.zone:SetTextColor( 1, .77, 0 )
			elseif client == D3 then
				toast.class:SetTexture"Interface\\FriendsFrame\\Battlenet-D3icon"
				toast.class:SetTexCoord( .2, .8, .2, .8 )
				toast.name:SetTextColor( .8, .8, .8 )
				toast.faction:SetTexture""
				zone = gameText
				toast.zone:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", toast.name, "TOPRIGHT", GAP, 0)
				toast.zone:SetTextColor( 1, .77, 0 )
			end

			if config.realID == "none" then
				toast.name:SetText(toonName or "")
			else
				local rid = "|cff00b2f0"..toast.realID.."|r"
				if config.realID == "instead" then
					toast.name:SetText( statusText.. rid)
				else
					toast.name:SetFormattedText( statusText..(config.realID=="before" and "%1$s - %2$s" or "%2$s - %1$s"), rid, toonName or "")
				end
			end

			if level and level ~= "" then
				toast.level:SetText(level)
				color = GetDifficultyColor(tonumber(level))
				toast.level:SetTextColor( color.r, color.g, color.b )
			else
				toast.level:SetText""
			end

--			toast.raceIcon:SetTexture"Interface\\Glues\\CharacterCreate\\UI-CharacterCreate-Races"
--			toast.raceIcon:SetTexCoord(  )
			toast.zone:SetText(zone or "")
			toast.note:SetText(notes or "")

			return	toast, client,
				toast.name:GetStringWidth(),
				client == (SC2 or D3) and -GAP or toast.level:GetStringWidth(),
				toast.zone:GetStringWidth(),
				toast.note:GetStringWidth()
		end
	end
end
unless i'm missing something that should be impossible. it's supposed to repeat the process per toon index, but all it's doing is repeating the SAME index over and over equal to the number of friends online. so if I hav 6 friends online, it just returns index 1 6 times.

I also moved toast = around too, minor results changes, but ultimately i think the problem is, it cannot be fixed in SetToastData local function, it has to be fixed in UpdateTablet, which is annoying and far more complicated

EDIT, tried fixing it in UpdateTablet instead and it didn't work either. I think flat out, the only way to fix it is to eliminate all this terrible redundancies. There really doesn't need to be 10 diff calls back and forth t accomplish one thing. there should just be one function that handles building that list. It'd be a lot simpler to manage then. Someone else can rewrite mod if they want that though.

I know what api to use, i know exactly how to get info on second char.

check BNGetNumFriendToons
if > 1 then do

for i = 1, numToons do
local hasFocus, toonName, client, realmName, realmID, faction, race, class, guild, zoneName, level, gameText = BNGetFriendToonInfo(self.id, i);

but as i said. i tried redoing most of it and it came out as functioning identical to how it does now. for some reason the for i = 1 numToons do was returning the SAME tooninfo multiple times, which is impossible. So i gave up.

i tried to do this, but i just wasn't smart enough to figure it out. blizzard code is WAY diff from ara and it'd require stripping down and rewriting half the mod just to support this, it can't just be hacked in

Hopefully original author comes back, as the extent of my support is just api updates and easily fixable stuff.

It would make it easy to sort out the mobile people in my head. (Or sort the mobile people 2nd regardless of initial sort.)
good idea, i'll do that later today

Green tiles appear in config.
bah, totally missed that, i should have known that was reason, i helped many other authors fix that very same problem. doh, and i knew about it too cause i completely avoided that problem in dbm, sigh.

green tiles i may be able to fix too, that's caused by a 5.x api change where calling an invalid texture path returns green blob instead of just no texture like it used to.

it's returning only a string, it being a number is WHY it wasn't working, i dumped the value in game. It definitely changed in 5.x. that's why it wasn't working (the code). it was checking

"1 and value or alternate value"

basicaly, 1 was always false because the value wasn't a number, so it was ALWAYS choosing the horde icon, regardless of actual faction. It needs to now check for a string. if string returns different in none english locals i may have to replace the check with a global string check that = "Alliance" and that'll solve that.

API BNGetToonInfo - 6th return (faction):
Number - The faction of the toon. Returns -1 (offline), 0 (Horde) or 1 (Alliance)

hmm, this makes them all alliance icons, heh

actually the original numbers were fine, this is solution

toast.faction:SetTexCoord( faction == "Alliance" and 0.03 or 0.53, faction == "Alliance" and 0.47 or 0.97, 0.03, 0.97 )

alternative, can use your solution like this
toast.faction:SetTexCoord( faction == "Horde" and 0.53 or 0.03, faction == "Horde" and 0.97 or 0.47, 0.03, 0.97 )

Request: Could you please rename the Guild and Friends LDB objects to something a little more user friendly. Right now they are called "|cFFFFB366Ara|r Guild" and "|cFFFFB366Ara|r Friends". I am sure its cool to have that colored text in the addon listing, but it makes it a pain to script anything that calls to it (like kg panels) and you have to go into this addons code and rename it.

For some reason they changed the order of the icons in the texture.

Alliance is now from 0.03 to 0.47
Horde is now from 0.53 to 0.97

Lua Code:
  1. toast.faction:SetTexCoord( faction == 1 and 0.53 or 0.03, faction == 1 and 0.97 or 0.47, 0.03, 0.97 )
