DockingStation (Display)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.5.26 (Beta)
by: Vrul [More]

A display platform for LibDataBroker (LDB) based plug-ins. The display is provided through panels, each having sections (Left, Center, Right) corresponding with how a plugin is justified within it.

All plugins are disabled by default and you must turn on the ones you want to use. This is to avoid the complete mess that results from all plugins being on with the first use. The only plugin on at the start is the one provided by this addon to access its options easily. Just click it to start changing settings.

With plugins unlocked you can drag and drop them to other panels/sections and have them automatically adjust to their new location. There are no limitations on the drag and drop capabilities other than the new location for a plugin must be within a panel. You may also change the location of a plugin through the plugin options menu.

Almost all sub-sections of settings have a default option. The defaults follow a set pattern. First plugins check their settings, if default, they next go to their panel's settings. If the panel is also set to default then it defers to the addon's global settings. Finally, if the global settings are still set to default, then the hard coded defaults are used.

Note: It is recommended that you delete the folder(s) for an existing addon when updating to a different version. This is to keep files that are no longer used from taking up space.

Translators: To submit a translation please just edit existing files (example: DockingStation\Locales\deDE.lua and DockingStation_Config\Locales\deDE.lua) and send them to me.

Issue with tooltips

I just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why the new AutoHide feature in LibQTip was failing to respect its delay parameter. I finally put a debug print in the right place and saw that the portion of the code - a check for whether or not elapsed was greater than delayed - was never called when the tooltip was hidden.

This led me to install Fortress for testing, and under that display the delay was respected.

Feature Request

I didn't see a feature request portal on the front page, I'll look again. Until then though, here it is:

I'd like state-based visibility. That way, I can set my Raiding Panel to show only if I'm in a raid. If the panels had unique names I could do this with Goose, which lets you show/hide frames with macro conditionals, but since they aren't, I'm stuck with having to see my raiding bar (with things like Broker_Group, which I don't need to turn off, but I don't need to see when I'm solo) when I'm solo, and having to see my farming bar when I'm not. There are other uses too, like people who have a dps broker and only want to see it in combat, rather than out of combat, or maybe a pet related broker that you only need when you have a pet out. IMO, this sort of functionality would put Docking Station from the best of the broker displays to why the heck would you download anything else? XD

Thanks for your time, I love DockingStation.

I've found the listing.. it's "DPS" rather than "Statblock_DPS", perverse logic in naming schemes ;-)

Did the trick. Not sure if it was this version or the previous update but something you did resolved the issue of the bar sometimes not showing properly when changing resolutions and/or aspect ratios. Nice job. My UI is finally going Broker

I still see the appropriate tooltip info, but the DockingStation bar and it's contents are completely gone. To be sure, I tested with all addons but DockingStation disabled and cleared the savedvariables...same result after configuring nothing but the opacity and "Smart Mouse" and then hovering over the DockingStation icon/text.
Version 0.2.26 should fix that.

1) Reloading the UI (or changing resolutions that trigger it) can lead to some sluggish mouse response after awhile (the number of times for it to become noticeable depends on your system and addons). If that problem persists on a fresh loading of WoW then can you please give me the resolutions that you are experiencing this with and the panel height you are using.

On a side note, the panel height isn't really a pixel value. I just have it set to look that way since the screen size of the UI doesn't always really match the resolution you are running on. The height you set your panel to is really just saved as a percentage of the current resolution's height. Any resolution changes you make will keep the same ratio of panel size to screen size. So if you really do need a seperate height from one resolution to another you are better off creating a seperate profile for each.

2) Yeah, not much I can do about that.

3) This should be corrected in v0.2.25 that I just uploaded.

I've been looking for a true Fubar replacement for quite a while, and I think this finally hits the nail on the head, but there are a few nagging issues I've run into on my testing.

1) Biggest issue is that the height of the bar seems to impact whether it will reliably display on mouseover or not. At some heights (at some aspect ratios) the bar won't appear reliably. This is an issue because I'm trying to create a single config to support all aspect ratios.

2) Some Fubar plugins aren't working (with Fubar2Broker and the Fubar dependency removed from them). RoutesFu is the most prominent because there is no replacement for it. I can live without that though, and it certainly isn't a fault of your addon, just mentioning.

3) Sensing mouseover needs a little work. On Outfitter for example, if you move your mouse from the bar into it's popup box to choose your outfit, the bar won't disappear until you've moved your mouse back over it and out again.

All in all, an excellent and easy-to-migrate to replacement. I especially like your configuration layout.

Those settings only seem to affect the distance between adjacent plugins; the distance between the first plugin and the end of the panel is not affected.

I have no intention of uploading this anywhere else, however, if someone else wants to upload it to Curse feel free to do so.

For some reason seeing those two slightly different error dumps next to each other like that made something click so I think that problem will be fixed in the next version.

Could you please add an option to right-click on a bar to open the config menu?
I'll look into it but I'm not going to promise anything.

I'm in the process of revamping LibDisplayAssist to take into account some new information provided by PlutoMan, once that is done I'll upload the new version with all the fixes.
