Wintergrasp Timer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: beta18 (defunct)
by: Mike-N-Go [More]

This AddOn is not updated for 4.x.

It will remain
for posterity.

If you are still unabated, please show your support if you want this AddOn updated for 4.x. You can either donate, or show your support on the comments page.

As of May 20, 2009: This addon is unsupported for the time being. AddOn authoring was only a hobby of mine. Mike-N-Go is not currently playing WoW, thus not creating or maintaining mods for WoW. If someone wishes to submit a patch for one of my mods to WoWInterface, you may within the bounds of the license bundled with the mod.

Now with slashcommand-options!
/wgt or /wintergrasptimer [option]
screen - shows announcements on screen
chat - shows announcements in chat
sound - plays warningsound with announcements (Sound file is from Nintendo's (c) Smash Brothers, provided by HelpTheWretched (http://noproblo.dayjo.org/ZeldaSounds/).)
stopwatch - shows stopwatch when less than 5 minutes left
time - prints time left in chat

When i don't visit the "time npc", the printed timer is totally wrong (print thing like 2kk hour since the start of wg).

Strange, I can post ss if needed

For me the very best thing would be to insure, no matter what the custom offset is, that this addon broadcasts the countdown with the server time. What would also be nice would be synching on a hidden data sharing channel. Although I am not sure it would be worth it if a new chat channel had to be created.

noblesteel, thank you for your kind words about addon authors =].

And your question about a hidden data channel. The addon currently uses the guild addon channel; were you asking for a global channel?

The syncing via the addon channel is independent of what you have your current time displayed as, if that is what you guys were asking.

This var should be used because it affects the time displayed ingame.

That option has been in since beta10. The mod uses whatever setting you have set with the TimeManagerClockButton on the minimap. Key '/click TimeManagerClockButton' or click on it to open it. Then key '/click TimeManagerLocalTimeCheck' or check the box that says "Use Local Time".

Alternatively, you could just key '/run SetCVar("timeMgrUseLocalTime",x)' if x is 1, then it will use local time. If x is 0, then it will use server time. IE: '/run SetCVar("timeMgrUseLocalTime",1)'.

Note that is uses the time that the in-game clock on the minimap uses. Is that fine? Or would you like WintergraspTimer to display the time in conflict to what the minimap states?

Or is the problem that your computer's internal clock is not set to your local time?

Would you prefer this mod offset the server time, without using the timeMgrUseLocalTime CVar?

NPC dialog work fine. THX!

*COUGH* Shameless ad:

Wintergrasp Timer Light

I felt that Wintergrasp Timer was too bloated for my use so I handed it over for Mike-N-Go and rewrote it completely

I didn't test anything, it was all off the cuff guessing. Remember, memory usage for addons that use Ace can be misleading--if more than one loaded addon uses the same Ace lib, it only gets loaded once and then that code is shared (this isn't EXACTLY how it works but it's a good way to visualize it.) Where the memory usage shows up just depends on who loads the lib first. In my case, I only run one Ace addon, so it looks like a bloated monster. If you run many, and all the libs are loaded by other addons first, you will only see the usage of your code and not the libs.

In any case I remain cautiously optimistic. I'm a fan of your work--you'll probably make this come out right.

Of beta13:

This addon was like 9k this morning, and now it's 135.54 Kb. It probably takes up 700+ Kb of runtime RAM now (assuming no other Ace addons.)
60 KB of the file size is SSBM_YoungLink_KO.wav, a sound file.
340 KB is current file size of the libs

And the 135 KB file size, you clim, is the compressed size, the uncompressed size of the whole file is 440KB.

Did you verify the 'it probably takes 700+ kb of RAM' statement? One number I see, with all my addons (I have hundreds) enabled, is 30KB for WintergraspTimer in game.

With minimal addons WintergraspTimer, (WintergraspTimer, !Swatter, ACP, NinjaPannel, and LynStats) loaded, it says it takes 403 KB.

One reason I wanted to use ace was because I never have tried that lib in one of my projects before.

Things that I plan to use Ace for in this project:
1) Localizations
2) Blizzard Options GUI config (AceConfigDialog-3.0, AceConfig-3.0)
3) Slash Commands
4) Ace db for saved vars and profiles
5) Events (AceEvent-3.0)

Edit: Grammar

Cool, look forward to it.

In the meantime, if anyone else wants it to show only time until battle, just find and change the following line
Code:
output = hours..":"..minutes.." - "..output
to
Code:
--output = hours..":"..minutes.." - "..output
Or you can just delete it altogether. Adding the -- just comments out the adding of the other info, so you can go back to original if you want later.

Should work fine, haven't had any issues so far

Broadcasting time and receiving time between Wintergrasp Timer < --- > Wintergrasp Timer Light works.
Timesharing works with Capping also.
