StatScore  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 6.0.3.33
by: Ne0nguy [More]

About StatScore:

All item comparison addons provide you with a different way of measuring gear upgrades. Most of which will tell you that an epic that just dropped is a huge upgrade for you. But after taking a second look at it you find that even though it has a higher item level, it does NOT have the right stats for your paticular class/spec.

StatScore is different. It uses weight tables to analyze which stats are best for you, and which aren't. Using the same calculation methods that Wowhead uses, it will take each stat on the currently shown item, multiply it by its weight value (specific for your class/spec) and add it for its total value. It is then normalized by dividing by the total value of all weights. After all the math is done StatScore will insert the value at the bottom of any equipable item tooltip along with a comparison or off-spec value if applicable.

All you have to do is type /StatScore and select the profile that best describes your character and StatScore will do the rest.

Confused by the math? See the screenshots to the right to see how the profiles affect each class's score or Read Wowheads FAQ about Stat Weighting.

The best thing you can do is disable all your addons exept for StatScore and make sure it works.
If it does, re-enable half of your addons at a time until you are able to isolate which one is causing the problem.

StatScore 3.2.2.19 (upgraded from earlier vers.), WoW 3.2.2.10505 live, USEnglish client/server. Gave this a try on my new low level (30-40) Paladin. Like a few other mods (WinterTime, DirtyRecruit & Athene's Upgrade Estimator) its got problems with handling the UIDropDownMenu API/template.

Enter the options section (ESC, Interface, Addons, StatScore). Error is thrown up immediately and the drop-down menu for choosing a profile is blank and shows nothing:

Code:
["message"] = {
                "Interface\\FrameXML\\UIDropDownMenu.lua:292: attempt to compare nil with number:\nStatScore-3.2.2.19\\StatScore.lua:532: in function `initFunction'\nInterface\\FrameXML\\UIDropDownMenu.lua:69: in function `UIDropDownMenu_Initialize':\nStatScore-3.2.2.19\\StatScore.lua:515: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\StatScore\\StatScore.lua:514>\n<in C code>: in function `SetParent'\nInterface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:24: in function `InterfaceOptionsList_DisplayPanel':\nInterface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:46: in function `InterfaceOptionsListButton_OnClick':\n<string>:\"*:OnClick\":2: in function <[string \"*:OnClick\"]:1>\n\nLocals:|r\n(*temporary) = StatScorePanel {\n cancel = <function> defined @Interface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:618\n 0 = <userdata>\n shown = false\n refresh = <function> defined @Interface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:620\n rolemenu = StatScoreRole {\n }\n default = <function> defined @Interface\\AddOns\\StatScore\\StatScore.lua:469\n name = \"StatScore\"\n ", -- [1]
                "chktooltip = <unnamed> {\n }\n okay = <function> defined @Interface\\AddOns\\StatScore\\StatScore.lua:468\n chkoffspec = <unnamed> {\n }\n}\n(*temporary) = InterfaceOptionsFramePanelContainer {\n 0 = <userdata>\n displayedPanel = StatScorePanel {\n }\n}\n(*temporary) = InterfaceOptionsFrameAddOnsButton20 {\n toggleFunc = <function> defined @Interface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:49\n highlight = <unnamed> {\n }\n 0 = <userdata>\n text = InterfaceOptionsFrameAddOnsButton20Text {\n }\n toggle = InterfaceOptionsFrameAddOnsButton20Toggle {\n }\n element = StatScorePanel {\n }\n}\n(*temporary) = <function> defined =[C]:-1\n\n  ---", -- [2]
            },
            ["type"] = "error",
            ["session"] = 516,
            ["counter"] = 1,
        }, -- [155]
Exit WoW, delete the old saved variables. Head back into options, the dropdown menu now appears correctly without errors. Select "Paladin - Retribution (DPS)". Tooltip data appears properly.

Then a few days later (several WoW relogs, different characters that are not running StatScore, etc.), head back into its options. And again (as soon as you click "StatScore" in the options list), it bugs out and the drop-down menu is blank. Similar error but not exactly the same as the above:

Code:
["message"] = {
                "Interface\\FrameXML\\UIDropDownMenu.lua:292: attempt to compare nil with number:\nStatScore-3.2.2.19\\StatScore.lua:532: in function `initFunction'\nInterface\\FrameXML\\UIDropDownMenu.lua:69: in function `UIDropDownMenu_Initialize':\nStatScore-3.2.2.19\\StatScore.lua:515: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\StatScore\\StatScore.lua:514>\n<in C code>: in function `SetParent'\nInterface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:24: in function `InterfaceOptionsList_DisplayPanel':\nInterface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:46: in function `InterfaceOptionsListButton_OnClick':\n<string>:\"*:OnClick\":2: in function <[string \"*:OnClick\"]:1>\n\nLocals:|r\n(*temporary) = StatScorePanel {\n cancel = <function> defined @Interface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:618\n 0 = <userdata>\n shown = false\n refresh = <function> defined @Interface\\FrameXML\\InterfaceOptionsFrame.lua:620\n rolemenu = StatScoreRole {\n }\n default = <function> defined @Interface\\AddOns\\StatScore\\StatScore.lua:469\n name = \"StatScore\"\n ", -- [1]

            },
            ["type"] = "error",

Of couse I did :P
It wasn't hard, and you programmed it right, so it was working good. But, I guess, it lacks a failsafe moment

I'm not sure how you managed to get a profile with the index of 32, the list stops at 31 unless you modified it.
If you have modified the new version I would suggest checking the syntax and making sure you have both a short and long name for the profile in the list.
If you haven't modified the new version: /StatScore Reset

I'm guessing it would make a significant difference in determining a hunter weapon from a death knight weapon.
When you started speaking about ranged DPS, it became clear.
It just happened that I do not have hunters myself.

It would be a little more helpful if you could provide some more info on when that error occured.

1. What Profile are you using?
2. What Item were you looking at when it occured? [/b]

Hm.
Just curious, what the WOWHEAD_MELEE_DPS means?
If it's weapon DPS - why not ITEM_MOD_DAMAGE_PER_SECOND_SHORT ?

Version 3.2.2.18 (11/12/09)

Version 3.2.2.18 (11/12/09)
- Increased the number of profiles (rogues now have 3 profiles, up from 1)
- Updated all stat weights to match Wowhead's Item Comparison Tool
- Modified the tooltip output again

NOTE: Due to the addition of profiles, updating from 3.2.2 may require you to reset your profile. (/StatScore Reset)
NOTE: If you see any inconsistencies between in-game data and Wowhead data please leave a comment. I don't play often enough to catch these bugs myself anymore.

Earlier I said I would post a list of changes, but I don't really feel like calculating all of that.
Instead, with this release I have added 'oldscores.lua'
You can use that to compare against the new scores in 'StatScore.lua'
I have made some changes to the layout so it should be a little easier to read, and modify if you so choose.

Weight Scale Updates

We've gone through the sticky threads and pulled the best weights we could find to update our weight scale system, so the weighted searches, weighted comparisons, and recommended upgrades on the Profiler should now be showing much more realistic results.

There ARE a few weight scales that are still out of date though! Our Blood Death Knight scale still doesn't have a value for agility, and our Frost Tanking scale still has old numbers. We're changing the way these scales get updated so we should be much quicker to get the scores up to date—but we need your help!

In every class forum there is a sticky thread entitled "Stat Weighting Presets", where we ask people to post updates for our weight scales. If you see problems with them, please give us a hand!

I am in the process of going through and changing the default stat weights to reflect Wowhead's Item Comparison Tool.
When I post the update I will provide a list of all the weights that got changed.

Now would be a good time to make a backup of StatScore.lua if you made any changes to the profiles.

Then we'll be able to write add-on mod to insert new profiles or just edit SV manually. Instead of messing with original code.

Well, this layout change is good, but if you saw RatingBuster, i've mean the way it put data - it put in tooltip the difference between current item and equipped item, not controversal one as you did.
