Aloft Alpha  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Aloft-5.3.2-alpha3
by: acapela [More]

This is a "development" version of Aloft (the nameplate addon). Please refer to the main page for that addon for a comprehensive description.

This is an ALPHA release. That means it has not had a substantial amount of testing under all circumstances. By installing this version, you are basically agreeing to help test . Please report any/all bugs with this release in the comments section of this WoWInterface addon page.

This version of Aloft is functionally identical to Aloft-5.2.8-2574.

This version of Aloft is updated to work with WoW "6", aka "Warlords of Draenor", currently in beta test. All modules have been enabled, LUA errors fixed (mainly to do with obsolete spell IDs), and all the basics seem to work on the WoW 6.X PTR. There were not many changes required.

I now have Beta access, so am incorporating that into my testing.

This version of Aloft will probably not work on current live realms... there is at least one new spell that doesn't exist there yet (Storm Elemental Totem), plus several that have been removed.

5.3.2-alpha3 (Warlords of Draenor)
- fixed cast bar LUA error and configuration mode update issues
- updated Ace3 to latest/greatest (r1114)[/color]

5.3.1-alpha2 (Warlords of Draenor)
- updated/fixed "Nameplate Glow>Recently Damaged Only" functionality

5.3.0-alpha1 (Warlords of Draenor)
- for WoW 6.X PTR and WoD Beta

5.0.1-2418 (Mists of Pandaria)
- enhanced to cover monk/brewmaster tanking
- added a check to avoid divide-by-zero problems in the stacked points (combo points/etc) module
- fixed some divide-by-zero problems in threat management (the MoP threat system seems to zero out perdiodically, during fights)

5.0.0-2404 (Mists of Pandaria)
- changed GetNumRaidMembers() to GetNumGroupMembers()
- changed GetNumPartyMembers() to GetNumSubgroupMembers()
- changed (MiniMapBattlefieldFrame.status == "active") effectively to (select(IsInInstance(), 2) == "pvp")
- updated Shaman totem manifest and spell IDs
- added Monk class color (0x00ff96), class name, and associated options, to code and documentation
- added Pandaren race short form
- verified crowd control spell IDs, added Shaman "Bind Elemental" to crowd control spell IDs
- combined obsolete PARTY_MEMBERS_CHANGED/RAID_ROSTER_UPDATE events into new GROUP_ROSTER_UPDATE event
- no changes to Aloft related to GetGuildRosterInfo() (Aloft doesn't use all the arguments), or UnitIsGroupLeader() (Aloft previously updated away from deprecated functions)
- no apparent changes related to GetBattlefieldScore()/GetWhoInfo()/GetFriendInfo()

- TODO: add brewmaster tanking characteristics (for nameplate glow control)
- TODO: hunter trap snakes (specifically "Viper"; E/W Plaguelands and Uldum) and (possibly) DK bloodworms now seem to have names in common with some normal NPCs

4.4.9
- updated the cast warning module to detect animation update interval of 0 and use OnUpdate directly, instead of AceTimer-3.0 (seemns marginally faster/smoother)
- updated LibBabble-Faction-3.0 to latest/greatest (4.3-release32)
- updated Ace3 to latest/greatest (r1057)

4.4.2-2308
- merged in zhTW localization contributed by WoWInterface user aa9012456.

since at least the last 2 versions already the "glow" that indicates if the spell can be interrupted or not seems to randomly bug up, showing up on mobs that either do not cast spells, or that do cast spells but can be interrupted

once in a while it also pops up randomly on screen not near any nameplates at all, but i did not take a SS of that yet

I think Aloft is the only mod I run that uses Ace, hence me not knowing much about it.

Thanks in advance.
basically correct: the Ace2 version is "end of life", the Ace3 version will form the basis of all new feature development in Aloft, and supporting the two in parallel is proving to be resource-intensive. as soon as i can finish the work behind the scenes (reintegrating an SVN branch), i will release the Ace3 version on the main Aloft page and we can all proceed from there.

and no, you won't need to install Ace3 to run Aloft. Aloft comes bundled with Ace3, and will load it for you if you do not have it installed (though you can install it separately if you wish). if you have nothing else that uses any version of Ace, Aloft should be able to operate as a self-contained addon.

as well, right now, i use the same saved variables/configuration for both the Ace2 and Ace3 versions of Aloft, and switch between the two without any appareent consequence. moving from the most recent Ace2 configuration to the most recent Ace3 configuration should not require any additional effort on the part of the user. just install and go.

Release: Aloft-3.0.7-1738

a new release of Aloft (Ace3) is available, pending moderator approval: Aloft-3.0.7-1738.

sorry for the delay in posting this, i didn't get to finish my testing until just a few minutes ago.

hopefully this will fix all of the cast bar/cast warning issues you have been having.

as well, this has a fix for LiNK2088's problem with highlight textures.

watch for your favorite bug(s), and as always, let me know if there are any problems .

Looking forward to a new version, getting spell icons stuck everywhere with the nameplates visible. Luckily I was able to disable the white glow around them at least.

by "this" i assume you mean these cast bar artifacts (things that should be disabled/hidden not staying disabled/hidden).

i believe i have it all fixed, and it passes my "unit testing" (i.e. canned testing to exercise all the options). i want to get in-game tommorrow, and actually play for an hour or so, to make sure there are no obvious side effects. i should be able to cut a release right after that.

so, mid-day tommorrow... hopefully that is "quick" enough. and i certainly thank you all for your patience.

thanks for the screen shot.

in playing with the various options to enable/disable cast bar/cast warning bar, and the various subordinate pieces of them, i have uncovered a variety of small problems like this.

it is good you brought it up. i am working on it now, and hopefully i can get all of that working .

not having any luck reproducing this. the target cast bar spell icon is disabling just fine for me (at least when the cast bar is enabled).

i am having trouble disabling the cast bar as a whole (bad things seem to happen when i disable the cast bar, which should not be), and various bits and pieces of the cast warning bar (as distinct from the target cast bar) are not disabling properly.

anyway, i am looking at all the relevant code, and will try to make it more robust and make sure all the enable/disable options have the desired effect. look for a new release, probably tommorrow (which will give me time to test all of this).

thanks.

Release: Aloft-3.0.6-1730

a new release of Aloft (Ace3) is available, pending moderator approval: Aloft-3.0.6-1730.

this contains a functional cast bar (fixed for WoW 3.3.3), and various other small fixes. please feel free to review the change log.

i am experiencing hard WoW client "#132" crashes, as others have observed. they seem to be very rare, but at this point i have seen one occur with just Aloft enabled, so i am content with the premise that Aloft is inducing them somehow.

unfortunately, i have no clue what to do about them.

if anyone sees anything that might be relevant to this (posts in forums, or any sort of pattern of activity in the game that can induce them reliably), please let me know (here in comments or via a private message).

i will take a look at that. thanks for the report.

edit: yep, some sort of cut/paste error on my part (and it appears, only in the Ace3 version, so perhaps it happened when merging changes in from the Ace2 SVN repository). i ended up leaving a duplicate version message in the startup code. i have deleted that, and will add that to my testing to make sure i only see the message once, and only when the option is enabled.
