Up to date for patch 9.0.2

WoW Classic version available here: Clean Icons - Thin - Classic

This is an updated version of Clean Icons - Thin by suicidalkatt. The original hasn't really been kept up to date.

I have gone through and processed every single icon added to the live game since 7.2.5, and made sure they look good and follow the original style. I had already released a fan update for 7.3.2 in the comment section, but since there still hasn't been an official update I decided to release future versions here instead where it'll be easier to maintain.

I will be releasing updates for future patches here, including alpha/beta/PTR versions. I have a pretty good process of going through new icons now so future updates should be pretty speedy!

How to Install

Extract all files and move them into your Interface folder inside your WoW installation (not the AddOns folder!)

Windows

If you have installed the game in the default location, you should be able to find your Interface folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface

Your Interface folder should then look something like this:

macOS

If you have installed the game in the default location, you should be able to find your Interface folder here:
/Applications/World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface

Your Interface folder should then look something like this:

How to Uninstall

To restore your icons back to default, simply delete the files you added (the folder ICONS as well as four .blp files) in the Interface folder.

Known Issue: Missing Icons

All icons that used to be encrypted are currently unable to be replaced. We used to be able to replace these encrypted icons if we knew the file names, but since patch 8.2.5, most of them have remained flagged.

This includes the icons for The Dreadwake, Transmorpher Beacon, Hogrus, Meat Wagon, Vulpine Familiar and the Sylverian Dreamer, among others. Pretty much all recent promotion/store related items are affected.

There is nothing we can do about this. Blizzard needs to flag the icons properly.

Credits

Icons added prior to patch 7.2.5 were processed by suicidalkatt. Everything since then has been processed me. Blizzard owns the original artwork.

I won't try to maintain anything more than this specific version. Too much work.

I know they kinda depend on other addons (and I'm somewhat worried they won't be updated), but the icons should function just like in retail right?
I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Classic client, since it is based on the same one that current live uses. I'll look into releasing a version specifically for Classic once it is out!

I don't have access to the beta so I wouldn't be able to test anything yet.

Thanks again for a great addon.

I'm suspecting they might have renamed all of the "inv_encryped_" icons since they are no longer being replaced. They were definitely working on 8.2 release day, but a recent hotfix seems to have broken them all

This includes a bunch of store/promotion mounts (Meat Wagon, Sylverian Dreamer, Hogrus, The Dreadwake, Vulpine Familiar), the store toys (faction fireworks and Transorpher Beacon) as well as the promotion cloaks/banners from Blizzcon. Basically, anything that has recently been encrypted.

The strange thing is that The Dredwake's icon is not being replaced either, which had a "proper" icon name (inv_skiff.blp).

Edit: I also just tried extracting all the files from the current live build, but as usual they are still flagged as hidden and were not included.

I can't really do much about it at the moment.

These icons do not depend on any addons. This isn't an addon either. They are direct texture replacements. The WoW client itself looks for these files first before loading the game's textures. This functionality has been a part of the WoW client since WoW was created, and icons don't change names once they are put into the game, so these replacements should work just fine in Classic.

Sylverian Dreamer was an encrypted icon added in build 28294, now released.

That's the Icon ID, not the file name. Unfortunately we need the file name (which is encrypted) to be able to replace the icon texture.

Seems to have worked, thanks. Makes me sad that dominos will apply the border however, sadly I suppose it means I have to continue using masque

Any addon I can use that would not apply a border so I can see if its working? (with dominos I was still getting normal icons)
Disable all addons and the default UI buff icons should be borderless. Another places is the mount icons in the Mount Journal.
