! Sounds
Hai , I registered just to tell you ( well I also registered for thaks to the creator of that amazing Addon ) that I finally could find the solution to the problem that you are having ( if it is the same than me , that is nearly possible ) , just check THE FOLDER on where you are adding your .mp3 or your .ogg , cuz i was doing it wrong all time i was putting it on a C:Program Files(x86)/WoW/Interface etc.... and not on another folder created on C: Program files / WoW / Interface ... etc ( arriving till Sounds ofc ) , and that happened cuz I started to play again after a year and seems that the reinstallation of the files were made in another path , so check your path before making all the process! |

coconutshell:
Ogg files work. Make sure the sound file is in the Interface\AddOns\MikScrollingBattleText\Sounds directory *before* you start WoW. FAQ entry |

Stanzilla:
I'll look into it. For multistrike, I have to way to test it currently, but I think I understand from reading what it does and how it works. JMFinWinnfield: I just removed all references to mp3s from the code and dialogs because the game no longer supports them. I guess I missed the references in the readme. Thanks for points that out. |

Unable to add MP3 sounds via in-game options
You state in the README that the MP3 format is valid for sound files, in addition to OGG. However, your current code only allows for the OGG format. Starting at line 368 in MSBTOptions\MSBTOptionsTabs.lua:
Code:
local function MediaTab_ValidateCustomSoundPath(soundPath) if (not soundPath or soundPath == "") then return L.MSG_INVALID_SOUND_FILE end local soundPathLower = string.lower(soundPath) if (not string.find(soundPathLower, ".ogg")) then return L.MSG_INVALID_SOUND_FILE end end Code:
if (not string.find(soundPathLower, ".ogg") and not string.find(soundPathLower, ".mp3")) then return L.MSG_INVALID_SOUND_FILE EDIT: Hm, is MP3 no longer a valid format for in-game sounds? EDIT 2: I'm a dummy. You'd have to write an additional condition depending on whether or not the file is in MP3 (PlayMusic()) or OGG (PlaySoundFile()) format. ;-; Whatever happened to function overloads, Blizz?

Welcome back mikord and thanks for updating!
I've been using a 3rd party updated version until now and it has some features that are missing in yours, namely multistrike support and showing gained absorbs, like when I give someone a Power Word: Shield it shows +300 Absorb. Would be awesome if that could be added |

I just try to pretend it all is just some sort of magic.

So, the root of all of this is it appears Blizzard changed SetFont to dynamically load the font instance asynchronously and return false when calling it indicating the font is invalid instead of waiting until it's actually loaded to return like it used to. Once it has actually been loaded, things work as intended. I'm guessing it happened some time back in MoP based on looking at comment history. That's problematic because there is no event to know once it's actually been done. I tried to work around it by doing pre-loading of all fonts which are used during the initial addon load phase, but it seems that sometimes the first events that happen before the font is actually loaded will use the default, but then everything is fine. That is what you're likely seeing. I've spent many hours trying to find a magical dance to prevent it, but without access to the Blizzard source code or a proper API documentation (Blizzard doesn't provide any), there's really no way to know exactly what the specific set of parameters and conditions are without twiddling.
