Cartographer is a modular, lightweight, and efficient framework for manipulation of the world map.

  • Battlegrounds : allows viewing of battlegrounds outside of the zone.
  • Coordinates : adds coordinates to the bottom of the world map of the player and the cursor.
  • Foglight : Shows unexplored areas on the map. replacement for MozzFullWorldMap or Unexplorer. Much more efficient, though.
  • Group Colors : turns all your party's and your raid's POIs into circles colored based on class, and shows a number on them based on their raid group.
  • Guild Positions : show all guild members that also have Cartographer.
  • Instance Loot : shows loot tables when you click a boss note
  • Instance Maps : shows maps of instances.
  • Instance Notes : adds boss notes and such to instance maps.
  • Look 'n' Feel : allows you to change the transparency, position, and scale of the world map.
  • Notes : lets you put notes on the map, similar to MapNotes.
  • POI : store notes that city guards point you to.
  • Professions : automatically tracks herbs, minerals, and treasure.
  • Waypoints : allow you to make waypoints and have a big arrow point the way.
  • Zone Info : on hovering over a zone, it will show the levels of the zone, the instances in the zone, their levels, and the number of men the instance is made for (e.g. 5-man, 40-man).

Database Sharing

Dumb question, but I don't seem to be receiving gathering node information from my guildmates. Does the presence of a checkmark on Database Sharing->Receive Filter->Herbalism mean "Yes I want to receive it" or "No I want it filtered out"?

Probably a stupid question, but is there anyway to turn off the legend that appears on the right side of the map? I like it to be able to find out where I'm going but sometimes it makes it really hard to see where I'm at if I'm on that side of the world and to be able to toggle it on and off when I need it would be great. I've looked through the options, but obviously not good enough if such an option exists. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been having the same problem, but it doesn't affect only Cartographer, but all Ace-based mods. This makes all tooltips of FuBar addons look the same way.

Usually forcing a Reload UI "solves" the problem.

Even with Cartographer Mining activated, no mining spots appear in Outland territories (Zangarmarsh, Hellfire Peninsula, ...).
This works perfectly when in Azeroth (I didn't try in Kalimdor)
Did I miss something ?

Just started using this yesterday. When I first loaded it I could move my mouse around the map and it would tell me levels and instances as I touched various parts of it. now it doesn't do that anymore. Did I turn something off? Help please. Edit**** The issue appears to be the "lock" command. What does that do? A little more documentation would be helpful. When I mouse over a neighboring zone I get all the info but how do you get it for the zone you are in? Thanks.

Instancemaps points of interest and notes

The points of interest are in the wrong places and I can't seem to see any notes about loots etc.? What could cause this, I don't have any other mods that would alter the maps?
Also trying to change the coordinate text size will result in error: Coordinates.lua:410, attempt to index field "frame", a nil value

My guild has been using Cartographer Note system to map the location of quests in Outlands to ease up the leveling process. So far it's been a great help, but there are a few problems and annoyances that are stopping a wider adoption.

The number one is, of course, that after you map an entire continent worth of quest mobs, spawn areas and quest givers, what you get is a huge mess of icons covering everything. And by everything, I mean everything: location names, party member icons, and the quest giver proximity icon (when you're going to deliver the quest). This makes many of our members turn off the whole notes option, because the advantages don't compensate the problems.

The second problem is that having 50 icons with the positions of quests is better then not having any clue of where to go, but still makes you through them one by one until you find the what you're looking for.

So, I have a few suggestions that could make things a lot more usefull to our specific situation, and would probably be of much use even to more generic use of the addon. First some non-quest-specific suggestions.

While you're usign the map view, there is already an option on modules like Quests, Vendors and Trainers to set the transparency and size of the icons. Thats a nice option, that should be available to all modules. But also would be great to be able to set such options to the minimap icons. The same way, could also be implemented a feature like the one present on Gatherer, where the icon change into a trace-only circle, so not to cover party player, hunter/druid tracking, tradeskill or quest giver proximity icons. Just this feature would probably avoid most complaints I hear about the addon.

Another thing would be to include some kind of search, in a easy to find spot of the interface, that could search through all notes.

Also, it would be nice to have a way to make notes that are not point-only, but area-notes. This could be done by setting two coordinates for square-shaped notes, or center-radius for circle-shaped notes. Well, if I'm only dreaming, there could also be a way to create multi-point path notes, to write down patrol paths.

Now, there could also be implemented a more specific system to deal with quest notes. All previous suggestions would still apply, but tools directly designed for dealing with notes would help a lot.

For example:

* A quest list, similar to the dungeon loot table list. Would list all the quests already present on the current map. You could trigger on and off any quest on this list, so only its points would be shown up. It could also track your quest log, so all your current quests are shown up. Some kind of integration with MonkeyQuest for selecting which quests to show would also be nice.

* For area-notes, it could track the coordinates where you received a quest item in a similar way to how CartographerQuests tracks where you recieve a new quest, automaticaly generating a area note the surrounds a possible drop area.

It would be really great if some of those suggestions could be implemented on the addon. I use it day by day, and could not imagine having to go back to the original map. Hope you don't find my ideas too crazy to ever see the light of day.

Thanks a lot for the amazing work. Cheers.
