LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Lightheaded

Thanks claidhare for this addon stumbled across it quite a few years ago and love it. When i saw the alarmist quote about going down was quite sad as its helped me through a lot of tough quests through the game where blizz's descriptions were a little fuzzy. Putting this post up to say a huge thanks to you mate and good luck with your Phd as the people who support this addon would probably agree we know that the feild your doing will benefit from you

Thanks, I love the support you guys have given me over the years =) I'm in a particularly tough spot at the moment working through the final stages of my PhD while working full time, but it's worth it =)

I use LH every single day. It works perfectly. On the rare occasion I run into a quest not in the database, I get my toon to a safe area and come to Mr. Google. I'm not sure why you think it's so far gone that you want another add-on, but I think LH does the trick quite nicely.

It isn't "almost" closed. It's not closed at all.

I'm sorry that I personally have not had that much time to put into it these past few weeks, but that's far from the wolf you're crying about here =/

Re: Multiple errors

[quote=Cortello]This seems like there must be something wrong with my installation rather than with LightHeaded, but I want to check whether there were any known problems with LightHeaded.

Firstly,
Code:
/lh config
takes me to the last open page of the game interface options, not specifically to the LightHeaded page. Also, when I manually select the LightHeaded page it is empty, apart from a message saying
Code:
LightHeaded Options
These options allow you to configure various aspects of LightHeaded
Is this expected behaviour, or do I need to look at my installation?
[quote]
This is an issue with Blizzard's code to handle this. There's nothing to be done, from what I understand, except wait.
Secondly, I am getting no Wowhead notes on any MoP quest I have tried. I am testing with the very earliest level 85 quests from The Jade Forest. As a specific example, quest 30502 "Jaded Heart" shows just a blank Page 1 of 1 from LightHeaded, but other lower level quests show up just fine.

Thanks for this addon: it fulfils a much-felt need
That quest is in the database, on line 47788 of LH_Data_E.lua. It may be that your installation was not unpacked correctly or in the right place. It's hard to troubleshoot, but you should be seeing that quest. You can type it directly into the search window to check. There are some issues with quests that aren't properly categorised on wow head, and I don't know how to solve those yet.

I won't rely on another add-on to get the information.. and I'm not totally comfortable just auto-incrementing the ids within a certain range-- that's notting behaviour and I don't want them to react badly to it. It's a tricky problem =)

I'd like to make sure we have all of the quests, and we can't get those right now because of the lack of categorisation. I can try to run another update this week, but I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to verify it. This is an incredibly busy week at work and personally =)

I don't exactly have a straightforward connection to do so. I asked on IRC but got no response and I'm not sure I have the energy to try and find out precisely who I would have to track to have them make a change to an add-on they're not really willing to support. I'll do my best, but perhaps it would be best if some users could contact them to ask why the quests aren't categorised at all.
