LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Why don't you try it?

I downloaded the addon, unzipped files and dumped it into my addon direcroty. However, when I log in in-game and open th quest log, the additional tab for LH does not show up. I even downloaded doublewide and deleted skinner. It is still not showing up for me. Are there any commands I need to type to activate the mod? please adivse. I use mostly ACE based addons and am not sure if this conflicts with anything I am using.
Thanks.

I'm a bit torn whether I like the old lightheaded approach of showing all the comments at once vs the new 'paged' approach. There's something to be said for browsing multiple comments without requiring user interaction, especially since there are a of lot of low-quality comments. Skimming visually is just faster in those cases. It's also easier to compare comments from different users that may have conflicting information. Anyway, it might be nice to have an option for how many comments are displayed per page. A setting of 1 would be equivalent to what it is now.

Again, great job!
What I'm planning, is after I get an opportunity to make the frame resizable and detachable, is add an option that gives you all the data in a single page, so you can scroll instead of page. I recognize the need for both, just have to get to it.

Where are you getting this message? Did you follow the addon instructions and ensure you have the folders listed in your addons folder? Do you get any information after the could not load?

Yes, close it. If LightHeaded isn't open, then nothing will be loaded.

WoW, this just keeps better and better, and I love TomTom also.

One feature request, ability to move opened Lighthead panel to the right about 20 pixels so I can see the left column of words, cutoff by the bigger sized Doublewide mod. Or point me to a line in the lua and I can change my own copy.

Thanks again for the hard work, oh yeah, enjoyed the interview on Maelstrom podcast, and the book is awesome, bought it first day it was on Amazon.
You're using skinner or some other mod. I'm not making changes right now to support that infernal mod. In the future you will be able to move and resize the LH panel if you so desire, but that will not be this weekend.

The window of lightheaded is a bit behind the questlog window. Not completely but the leftside of it. The first words of lightheaded I can't read. Is there something I can do about that. I'm using Double Wide. And also using Questfu.
Same deal, Skinner moves the QuestLog.. i can't and won't do anything for that right now due to time. When I get the draggable frame, you'll have recourse.
