MyThreat  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.6.5
by: Brimm [More]

MyThreat is a simple compact threat information frame containing only the most essential data. It is designed to be a summary of the current threat situation - basically "how does threat relate to me RIGHT NOW".

Threat is automatically adjusted for Mirror Image and Fade.

There are three modes of operation:

  • Standard mode:
    • Main use: Default behavior. Shows your threat relative to the person who currently has aggro on your target.
    • The percentage value represents your threat relative to the current tank's threat.
    • The threat difference represents the difference between your threat and the current tank's threat.
    • The name is that of the current target's tank.
  • Focus mode
    • Main use: On fights with multiple tanks where the DPSers need to stay below all of them (ex: Gruul, Void Reaver, Gurtogg, Eredar Twins).
    • The percentage value represents your threat relative to the person on the focus list with the lowest threat.
    • The threat difference represents the difference between your threat and the person on the focus list with the lowest threat.
    • The name is that of the person on the focus list with the lowest threat.
    • Enabled via a slash command ("/myt focus set TankA,TankB" to set, "/myt focus" to clear).
    • Cleared via a slash command ("/myt focus clear").
    • Set to automatically adjust to the raid's Main Tanksm as set via the Blizzard raid UI ("/myt focus tanks").
  • Tank mode:
    • Main use: Being able to see who is about to surpass you on threat and determine rapidly your thread lead relative to the other raid members.
    • The percentage value represents the person with the 2nd highest threat's relative threat compared to yours.
    • The threat difference represents your lead on the 2nd highest person on the threat list.
    • The name is that of the 2nd highest person on the threat list.
    • Enabled via the interface options or a slash command.

The values are color coded based on level of danger of pulling threat. All values (absolute threshold, relative threshold, alpha) for threat levels can be customized via a slash command (/mythreat or /myt) or the Interface->AddOns menu.

All threat information is obtained via the WoW Threat API. This AddOn is not meant as a replacement to Omen but rather as a supplement, allowing you to have summary information on your current threat situation at a glance while ignoring that of others.

1.6.5:
-Increased the maximum threat thresholds to 200,000 (up from 50,000).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.6.4:
-Fixes for patch 4.0.1.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.6.3:
-Adjusted frame alpha to always be full during Mirror Image / Fade instead of falling back to the "safe" alpha value.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.6.2:
-Fixed a problem with threat adjustment during Mirror Images and Fade.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.6.1:
-Fixed global variable leakage.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.6:
-Added support for custom alpha transparency based on threat level.
-Increased the maximum absolute threat for any range to 50000 (up from 20000).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.5.3:

-Updated version of Ace3 library to version 3.3.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Updated TOC for WoW 3.2 patch.
-Updated version of Ace3 library.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.5.1:
-Updated TOC for WoW 3.1 patch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.5:
-Revamped focus mode. /mythreat focus now has three options: set (to set a manual list, much like it worked previously), clear (which removes the current focus list) and tank, a new mode, that sets the focus list to mirror the raid's Main Tank list (as set by the default raid UI).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.4:
-Threat is now adjusted when Fade and Mirror Image is in effect (enabled/disabled via interface options).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.3.4:
-Modified COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED event to throttle processing (cuts down on CPU usage).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.3.3:
-Fixed Tank mode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.3.2:
-Fixed Focus mode.
-Optimized display update code.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.3.1:
-Changed the standard mode to hide when player is the one tanking target.
-Fixed an issue with threat range colors.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.3:
-Moved from Threat-2.0 to the WoWAPI for threat information.
-Changed standard mode to always compare to current tank rather than current target.
-Added profile support to the addon interface options.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.2:
-Added a new "tank mode" that can be enabled via the options.
-Added a new "focus mode" that can be set and cleared via a slash command.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.1:
-No significant changes other than updating Threat-2.0 version.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.0:
-Initial release.

Thanks, really nice addon.
Possible to make a warning when passing 90% threat?
A bell from Sharedmedia and a pop up message on the middle of the screen please ?

It's very unlikely that I'll be making any significant changes to this addon. I'm quite content with the way it functions currently and really don't see the point of adding more features to it. Any additional changes will likely be cosmetic in nature.

That being said, if you would like an aggro warning, I suggest picking up Omen from the wowace repository. It's an amazing threat addon, shows detailed threat information for your entire raid (giving you threat information for fights where MyThreat is insufficient, such as Gruul, Gurtogg, etc.) as well as allowing you to use visual and auditory warnings at a custom threat level.

I cannot stress enough how much I recommend using an addon such as Omen in combination with MyThreat. MyThreat only shows you a very small portion of the current threat information - it's only meant to be something to glance at to get quick information, not a threat meter replacement.

Hello Brimm.
Thank you for the reply.
Issue is that i've replaced Omen with this addon, simply because that bars are overrated, and this gives me a much neater and better overview.

For me to switch away from this wonderful addon just because of the lack of a warning would be a shame, as it IS quite a little feature that i can manage without if i have to.

Another issue that i have noticed is that your addon does not comprehend from the agro limit changing from 110% to 130% when out of melee range.
Causing your "seconds to agro" calculation to be wrong, also the default coloring.

Thanks for this genious and simple mod!
Yves.

Actually the estimated time isn't time to pull aggro, it's time to be at 100% of current target's threat. Due to many/most fights having a randomly targeted secondary ability, the 10/30% buffers don't really exist in TBC. The decision to base the estimated time on the 100% mark was intentional and the omission of the 10/30% rule isn't a bug but part of the AddOn's design.

I'll see about adding a visual and auditory warning, but I make no promises and give no ETA should I decide to do so.

However, this AddOn will be updated come 2.4 to support Threat-2.0 lib and unit GUIDs.

Alright, thanks a lot for the explaination!

Keep up the good work! - I'm so looking forward to a warning, with no lua insight, i guess it shouldn't be too advanced should it?

if "threat" <"threatlimit", playmp3"customsound"
then echo raidwarning ""threatlimit"% threat passed"

And then add some option to toggle it on and off, eventually change sounds and threat limit before warning to be executed?

Sorry if it seems like i'm trying to pretend like its no thing at all (there is a reason that i don't do it myself) just venting ideas here

Btw, used it through whole Hyjal and BT today and yesterday, and only felt that only seeing your own threat was an issue on Gurtogg Bloodboil (as a mage).
Incredible useful and simple addon!

The only thing I'd like to see added is a way to change the width of the window. I use a HUD and have put MYT between the top ends of the HUD bars... it is just a tad bit too wide :-) Apart from that I find MYT to be a wonderful complement to Omen. Instead of having Omen right next to my HUD I've now moved it out to the edge of the screen since I only need to look at it every now and then (when I need to know how the OT is doing etc).

I agree that it is fine to have the 100% be a limit... that said the 110/130 distinction does make a big difference and I frequently look at Omen to see if I'm within 110 range. It could be useful to see that on MYT but it is a feature I can live without. If you implemented it I'd suggest you puttng up XX%/130% (i.e. adding the max right after my threat).

Not working ?

Hi there.

How is this mod supposed to work ?

It doesnt display anything when fighting mobs.

I can test, update settings, but the addon itself remains inactive within raids.

If the MyThreat window isn't appearing, it may be hidden under another element of your UI (such as unit frames or something else).

Also, it doesn't show any info if you are the one tanking the current mob.

I decided to go in and try to do some changes myself and mainly succeed in throwing errors, so here goes :-)

I wanted to make the window a bit more narrow... that was easy, I found it in the XML file. Then I decided I didn't want the "time to 100%" but would rather just have the other values. Once again I found the layout in the XML file and just removed the time value and changed the anchor point for the threat difference to BOTTOMRIGHT. This is where I stand... it looks just like I'd want it too, but I think that removing the time caused some errors to be thrown by the LUA code. Any suggestions?

Remove any lines in the .lua file that reference the removed label. This should fix your problems (basically, all lines from 259 to 286 in MyThreat.lua).

I'll probably eventually remove the "time to gain" entirely since it's a somewhat useless statistic to have (or, at any rate, add the possibility to toggle it off). I don't expect to mess around with the code before 2.4, however, when I'll need to port it to Threat-2.0.

I've ported the AddOn to both Ace3 and Threat-2.0.

I've also removed the "time to gain" and shrunk the window accordingly.

One thing I changed in my own version prior to 2.4 was to show the total threat of the tank rather than the differential. As a hunter who can dump all his agro on a regular basis, I found that more useful. Now that I know how to do that I can make the change myself, but would rather request that you provide that as an option (ttThreat rather than tDiff). Great addon!!
