Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

Current Issues:

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- DataStore_Crafts: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

- DataStore_Quests: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Talents: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Reputations: The module is now shared between all versions of the game.
- DataStore_Containers: Fixed COMMON_NUM_BAG_SLOTS to be NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 for retail, and NUM_BAG_SLOTS for non-retail, instead of the opposite.

- Fixed an issue where sorting the bags while the merchant frame is opened would trigger a slow down (Thanks Belazor !)
- DataStore_Containers: Removed an invalid test when closing a bank frame.
- Events : fixed a Lua error when a tracked item like an egg actually hatches.

Not delete the actual quests as that would prolly be impossible from other toons but to delete the showing in altaholic of them. I would like this particularly because i alt hop SOOOOO much that i get sidetracked especially while doing dailies or get in a group (as odd as that may seem) and when i alt hop back to the alt i was working on, look at quest log and see i've done 5 dailies, i can't remember which ones they were. LOL did i mention i have a really bad memory. I'm getting old... I hope I'm not confusing you. I say things in a long drawn out fashion that everyone hates. Otherwise this mod is everything i've dreamed of and can't do myself cuz i know nothing about coding. You're pure genious you know that? I check everyday for anything new. love it love it love it __________________

It's not possible to "search" for a recipe, but it's a good idea, I'll see if I can do something about it, shouldn't be too hard

The loot table search is already sorted by item level (shown in yellow, on the right), but in an ascending order (better items at the bottom). I'll implement an option to reverse the order though. Good suggestion

The first version I had written only showed recipes, and the screen felt kind of empty .. so I thought about giving a try at adding mats, and it worked out pretty well I can't say when the next version will be, but my focus will be using less resources. With 10 fully-loaded alts, I'm at 3.0mb. Next version will use less memory, but will require a data wipe. I'll try to minimize how often this has to happen, so I'm focusing on all these improvements in one release. A few new features should make it in the next version as well.

I mean even people who dont have access to tabs can see the total gold amount. I don't have access to take anything out of the guild bank on my main who is in a raiding guild. But my alts guild bank (the only reason i use this mod) I have full access to cuz i'm the guild leader and all the members too lol. So sometimes when i'm in the raid i get bored and want to look at my stuff and gold and plan what i'm gonna do when i get outta the raid. to sum it up i want to see the total gold in alt guild bank. Moneyfu for fubar only shows the totals on all your toons. __________________

My guildies always ask If I know a certain enchant and its annoying having to switch to my enchanter just to check. Keep up the good work!

I'm interested in it though, if you ever face it again, let me know @Atarius: I intend to improve things like that in the future, but my priority is to add new features (ie: sources of information). I'll work on the addon tonight, and maybe post an update if I can.

I was just wondering if you could implement some sort of sorting ability for the info frames, such as sorting by name/class/level for the character overview/bag views. I can't quite figure out why my characters are shown in the particular order that they are. Thanks for this awesome addon.

I'm using the latest version and when I try to put something in the guild bank I experience something very similar to the symptoms of lag. I place the item, but it doesn't appear in the guild bank slot. After that I can't do anything such as talk to a banker, cast a spell, etc. It stays like that for a while. Maybe a minute or so. Then everything comes back. The reason I'm mentioning this here is because the first time I got this, I got a pop-up error mentioning Altoholic. Unfortunately I wasn't able to copy the info down and I assumed it was just a result of lag. I then tried again and the same thing happened, but no error popup. So for now I just wanted you to be aware. Its certainly possible that something else is causing it, and if it continues to happen and I can get the error to show again, I will post it. Just so you know, this is the first time I've accessed a guild bank since installing the app last week. UPDATE: I had no problems at all this evening so I consider the error a blizzard lag problem.
