LumUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.04
by: neverg [More]

About

lumUI is a UI Compilation created having in mind utility within an attractive look focused on information. The main element of the UI is my oUF layout, oUF_lumen. This UI is full featured yet keeping it simple and easy to install without needing to configure lots of addons.

Installation & Instructions

1. Backup your Fonts folder (if you have it), Interface and WTF folder.
2.Unzip the archive into the World of Warcraft _retail_ folder. Not the Addons folder, the World of Warcraft _retail_ Folder. This is because inside the archive you will find a Fonts folder and an Interface folder.
3. That's it, there is no WTF because it's not needed by any addon needing configuration (at least important ones).
4. Refer to the individual addons if you need help configuring them. Most of the addons in this pack are configured through Lua editing so they might not be fitted for some users.
5. This UI works out of the package. You might only need to move some elements of the frames around.
6. If you need to override any default options please do so on `config.lua`. Go to LumUI and oUF_Lumen default config files (`defaults.lua`) to see the available options and override your settings on the `config.lua` file (save this file between updates, both for LumUI and OUF_Lumen).
7.In config.lua (LumUI and oUF_Lumen) there is an example to use a more compact centered layout (https://i.imgur.com/b7PG5va.jpg), uncomment the comments files to achieve that layout. Since version 9 LumUI uses a more wide layout with the Action Bars following the layout used by Blizzard default action bars. If you uncomment those files, please disable, reload and re-enable LumUI so the layout resets.

Addons

Keeping addons to a minimum from now on. You can supplement the UI with other addons of your choice.

  • LumUI
  • oUF_Lumen (Unit Frames)
  • Butsu
  • tullaRange

Notes

* There is a price to pay for a UI with a low need of config and simplicity... most of the stuff is edited in the lua files. Especially all addons that begin with lum (my own) are almost all edited through lua. Open the lua files in the beginning of the files there are lots of configs to tweak stuff.

It should work fine.

If it doesn't using the default layout, to use a more compact one where action bars are stacked vertically, just un-comment the commented files in LumUI/config.lua and oUF_Lumen/config/config.lua, disable LumUI, re-enable, reload and you should be golden.

There are instructions for that in the addon page. If you need further help do say so.
ill probably try it later, if it doesnt work, how do i uncomment the commented files? I havent really done any LUA stuff before.
Not that you need to, but in layouts like this where configuration is mostly done in code, if you are not conformable, maybe its better if you use something that will allow you to edit in-game in a GUI.

But if you feel a bit adventurous so you just need to open the config.lua files in a editor (I recommend VS Code from Microsoft) and un-comment those lines or add any other setting that exists in defaults.lua that you can override with your own values.

Lua Code:
  1. local A, ns = ...
  2.
  3. local L, C, G = unpack(select(2, ...))
  4.
  5. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. -- > Your configuration here (will override the defaults.lua settings)
  7. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. -- Important: Override each property individually or copy all the defaults
  10.
  11. -- Example: Compact UI
  12. -- C.settings.stats.width = 430
  13. -- C.settings.actionBars.bar1.framePoint = {"BOTTOM", UIParent, "BOTTOM", 0, 22}
  14. -- C.settings.actionBars.bar2.framePoint = {"BOTTOM", A .. "Bar1", "TOP", 0, 0}
  15. -- C.settings.actionBars.bar3.framePoint = {"BOTTOM", A .. "Bar2", "TOP", 0, 0}
  16. -- C.settings.actionBars.bar3.startPoint = "BOTTOMLEFT"
  17. -- C.settings.actionBars.bar3.numCols = 12
  18. -- C.settings.actionBars.stancebar.framePoint = {"BOTTOMLEFT", A .. "Bar3", "TOPLEFT", 1, 7}
  19. -- C.settings.actionBars.petbar.framePoint = {"BOTTOMRIGHT", A .. "Bar3", "TOPRIGHT", -1, 7}
  20.
  21. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the case above, just remove the -- before every line after -- Example: Compact UI
Bars are saved server side (this uses Blizzard action bars under the hood anyway). Disable LumUI, reload, enabled it again. It it doesnt work, you'll have to clear your WTF saved variables for that character.
And check the newest version of LumUI too.

Do report, it works fine here. BUT, but I also have to do the reloading stuff for it to flush the positions.

Config.lua not working?

First Shadowlands 9.01 (pre-patch) release.
Still some Work in Progress but most stuff is working nicely.

Check the new instructions, specially around the more wide default layout and how to override it (https://github.com/greven/LumUI).

Didn't extensively test so I don't know how far will this to go fix some of the API changes.
Some of the addons like rActionBar and such haven't really received any updates from its Authors. Did try to fix some small issues with those as well.

Hope it all works fine.
Let's see if I can still have fun with the game in order to subscribe for a couple of months or so. Haven't played 8.1 or 8.2 at all.

Would you like me to donate a month of game time to the cause?
This is what its all about.
The work you put into this would be no problem for me to donate a month either, thats the least we can do for you, and the time you put into this.

Ah thanks mate.
Thanks for your offer. It's ok, I don't want to ask people for anything.
I'll probably sub for a month anyway to try the patch and to see if it sticks.
