Battle Pet Daily Tamer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.2.12
by: Gello [More]

Battle Pet Daily Tamer puts a familiar paw on the world map to mark where daily pet tamers are that you have not completed for the day.

If you mouseover the tracking button in the topright of the world map, a button will slide out. Once clicked, you can selectively enable/disable which paws are shown:

  • Battle Pet Daily Tamer: This is the "master switch" that mirrors the "Pet Battles" option in the regular tracking button menu. While off, all paws will be removed from the map.
  • Reward Dailies (green paw): These are dailies that reward a pet supply satchel, pet charm or token to buy pet supplies.
  • Normal Dailies (blue paw): These are dailies that reward xp but no extra rewards.
  • Legendary (orange paw): These are the legendary pets to battle, if you have picked up the Book of Fables quests, or in the Tanaan Jungle.
  • World Quests (green paw): These are dailies on the Broken Isle that are only up for a period of time and have different rewards.
  • Inactive Dailies (grey paw): These are the above dailies after they've been completed of if they're not currently available. It is off by default.
  • On Azeroth Map: Turning this on will show active paws on the Azeroth world map also. Inactive dailies do not show on the Azeroth map.
  • Larger Paws: Makes all paws on the map 33% bigger.

- If a tamer has a quest named differently than the tamer, the tooltip will include the quest name.

- Paws shown on the Azeroth world map were removed. (I'm unsure whether to add this back. Let me know if you have strong feelings about it.)

Tom Tom Waypoints

Hey, thanks for a great addon.

Is it possible to add support for TomTom, just like quest dots on your map do? So you can Ctrl-right click on them and automatically get a waypoint made for that location.

Re: Tom Tom Waypoints

edit: Turns out the quest+TomTom behavior is the same as I experienced with paws. Added the three lines below and posted a new version.

Possible. I need to toy around with TomTom more to see what behavior it adds to quest icons, but in the meantime if you open Battle Pet Daily Tamer.lua and ctrl+F to "RightButton", change this:
Code:
  if button=="RightButton" then
    if GetCurrentMapAreaID()==823 then -- if we're looking at the darkmoon faire
      SetMapZoom(0,0) -- zoom out to azeroth map
to this:
Code:
  if button=="RightButton" then
    if IsControlKeyDown() and IsAddOnLoaded("TomTom") then
      local info = dailytamer.DailyInfo[self.questID]
      SlashCmdList["TOMTOM_WAY"](format("%s %.1f %.1f %s (Battle Pet Daily)",GetMapNameByID(info[3]),info[5]*100,info[6]*100,info[2]))
    elseif GetCurrentMapAreaID()==823 then -- if we're looking at the darkmoon faire
      SetMapZoom(0,0) -- zoom out to azeroth map
Then ctrl+right clicking a paw will do a /way to that paw. But I'm not satisfied with the behavior in cancelling arrows. Because both the TomTom dot and the paw expect mouse events, if a paw is ontop you need to toggle them off to right-click a TomTom dot to cancel the waypoint. I'll look at its interaction with quest icons sometime this weekend.

The update posted today (1.1.6) adds a paw just for Sara Finkleswitch of Gentle San. I had intended to put a yellow paw to mark the 10 epic pets (while you have the quest in your log), but in practice the default quest objectives already point you there somewhat and I think another 10 paws on Pandaria may make the map a bit too cluttered. But again, may add it as an option like the non-satchel dailies.

Please add orange paws

I would like to request that you please add the orange paws to the map asap. You can leave them as an option if folks do not want the clutter but the paws are actually one of the main reasons I like your addon.

Your addon is particularly useful for me as I tend to do my pet dailies across multiple characters and interleaved with other activities. Seeing them on the map allows me to schedule my travel more efficiently. Seeing the orange paws will help to make it so I can schedule that travel, and helps me if I forgot one that I had done that day, or worse, on previous days.

Thank you for the great addon.

I'd like to second the request for optional orange paws for the same reason. the default UI only marks one per zone and there's two in most zones, so having them all marked at the same time (and especially on the zoomed out continent map) will be a great help with route planning

Yeah there's definite demand, and after doing the dailies again I can see how it'd be useful to have them all up instead of relying on the quest objective to pick one for you.

I'll add orange paws this weekend.

New one just posted has the orange paws now. I'm not totally satisfied with the color of the orange. I wanted to use the in-game paw's 0xffd200 but it was too hard to see in the map. So it uses 0xff8000 like the legendary names. I'll probably revisit the paw graphic someday and brighten it a bit so it has a greater contrast.

Also if anyone has a strong desire to be able to selectively turn off green paws independent of the others let me know. I'll probably just have the green paw do that and not act as a global on/off switch. If a paw is in the way of something on the map it's probably obvious which paw to disable so you can see what's underneath.

And finally, for non-English users (if there's any), the fable quests paws will remain up for as long as you have the quest. But of course you can turn them off if it's annoying. I can localize this easily if you post precisely what the 10 quest objectives are. For instance in German it may be "Erobern No-No". If there ends up being any non-English users I can easily create a localization file.

Thanks for the information. That the orange paws don't show at all on non-English clients means more work needs done on my end before I need the translations, but I appreciate the offers.

I'll install a language pack this week and see about getting it ready for localization. I may be able to get by with numbered objectives too so no localization is needed.

I think the concern is about detecting if the daily is in the quest log or not as there's no problem with older tamers.

fortunately it's a quest, so tamers are shown on the map like a classic quest obective
