CombatCam

Version: 4.3.1
by: Everglow [More]

Description:
Automatically zoom the camera view to user defined views when entering and leaving combat. Also has an option (LeapCam, added in v4.3.1) to re-orient the camera after a charge (warrior, feral druid), skull bash (feral druid) or a rogue's shadowstep. Supports three custom camera views that can be set in the config, any of which can be used as your automatic combat view. These custom views can be activated by slash commands and can be put into macros.

Note on LeapCam: The effect will take place on the NEXT spell cast detected AFTER your charge/shadowstep. This prevents the camera from changing too soon (ie. before your character has turned to face the target)

CombatCam and LeapCamis are disabled by default. Type /combatcam or /ccam to access the config window. Here you can set your camera views and enable the automatic Cams. note: the auto Cams need not be enabled in order to set and use views manually using the addon config and the addon's slash commands

NOTE:
WoW has 5 preset views. You can cycle through them using the [Home] and [End] keys, or bind keys to save and activate them. CombatCam lets you change all but one (first person view) of these views in it's config, even if you do not enable the auto combat camera. These views are set globally across all characters on a given WoW installation, so changing them on one character will affect all characters. Any changes to the preset views will remain in effect even if CombatCam is disabled or uninstalled.

Slash Commands:
/ccam
- opens config window
/ccam 0
- zoom in to first person view
/ccam [def/1/2/3]
- zoom to default view or one of the other views
/ccam [c1/c2/c3]
- set which view to use in combat

Credits: this mod was inspired by Dynamic Camera written by ChaosInc. I wanted something simple and straightforward that only involved combat to give a "final fantasy" feel to the game when you aggro something.

4.2.2
-----
now allows you to use any of three custom views for combat
now allows you to reset views to the Blizzard default
*note - default view now uses the view that was previously used as the combat view
* please adjust your views accordingly after updating to version 4.2.2.

4.2.1
-----
updated for Cataclysm
removed mount view, as it was never reliable.

3.3.04
------
repackage

v3.3.03
-------
Cleaned up code.

v3.3.02

-------
- updated for patch 3.3
- Still having problems with COMPANION_UPDATE event
- Blizzard has fixed the problem with views resetting.

You are able to alter, adjust, etc each of the 5 views with the default UI via Keybinds > Save View 1-5. After you save each view, you can then use the Keybinds > Set View or [Home], [End] to change between the 5 views.
You're right, my mistake. There are keybinds available in the default UI. I've updated the description. There are still advantages to using this addon though. For one, you don't have to use keyboard real estate to bind keys or run scripts to set and activate views. Secondly, the addon can automatically zoom to your "combat" view when entering combat, and back to "normal" view when leaving combat.

I am not sure what you are asking... The addon simply allows you to specify angle and zoom for certain conditions, and moves the camera to the specified angle and zoom when a condition changes. It doesn't keep it at that angle and zoom. You are free to adjust both. The addon will not do anything until a relevent condition changes again. Have you tried to enable camera following, and something doesn't work properly? I personally do not use the autofollow camera option, but see no reason why you should not be able to.

I have fixed the mount view problems. They were related to the Blizzard event system. The combat views have always worked properly.

Please let me know if there are any other problems.

Using CombatCam with abilities

Thanks for the kudos, Colonel. I've updated the description to explain how you can use the slash command to associate the custom view to an ability. you can put the command in as many macros as you like. Also, if you want to associate a particular action with one of the other preset views, you can use this command in your macro

/<some action>
/script SetView(x);

where x is:
1 - first person view (same as "/ccam zin")
2 - "normal" view
3 - mounted view (if using Titan Rider Autocam... otherwise Blizzards preset medium view)
- edit: now incorporated into this addon.
4 - combat view
5 - your custom view (same as "/ccam zout")

You can disable the addon's auto camera functions and still use it to change your views from the Blizz defaults and use them in macros.
In fact you can use the script command in your macros without this addon, but you won't be able to change the views to your liking... It will just use the Blizzard presets, like pressing Home and End on your keypad.

Hope this helps

More features...

Hey, I recently found Dynamic Camera... but the author quit. Then I found your addon. I was wondering if you could add in some other events, though. I got the Titan Rider addon... and I loved it.

So, I anyway, I play a warrior, and I was wondering if it was possible to make a "camera action" when using a skill? I tried it with dynamic camera... but it doesn't work.

Anyway, thanks for making this addon. It's addons like these that enchance WoW more than anything else.

P.S. I made a new account just to write this. >_>

This addon already is a standalone addon. It has no dependencies and no libraries. It's very small (3 whopping KB), and uses practically no resources. You can disable the camera functions and just use SmartEdit. On the other hand, don't knock it 'til you try it. You might be surprised.

*Note: the camera views are already built into WoW (you can just press Home and End to cycle through them) All this addon does is allow you to change them from their defaults and automatically switch between them when you enter or leave combat.

I hate to say it, but if it wasn't for the smart edit feature, I probably wouldn't have even downloaded this... the camera options were more the added bonus to me... very handy, though.
