Up to date for patch 9.0.2

WoW Classic version available here: Clean Icons - Thin - Classic

This is an updated version of Clean Icons - Thin by suicidalkatt. The original hasn't really been kept up to date.

I have gone through and processed every single icon added to the live game since 7.2.5, and made sure they look good and follow the original style. I had already released a fan update for 7.3.2 in the comment section, but since there still hasn't been an official update I decided to release future versions here instead where it'll be easier to maintain.

I will be releasing updates for future patches here, including alpha/beta/PTR versions. I have a pretty good process of going through new icons now so future updates should be pretty speedy!

How to Install

Extract all files and move them into your Interface folder inside your WoW installation (not the AddOns folder!)

Windows

If you have installed the game in the default location, you should be able to find your Interface folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface

Your Interface folder should then look something like this:

macOS

If you have installed the game in the default location, you should be able to find your Interface folder here:
/Applications/World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface

Your Interface folder should then look something like this:

How to Uninstall

To restore your icons back to default, simply delete the files you added (the folder ICONS as well as four .blp files) in the Interface folder.

Known Issue: Missing Icons

All icons that used to be encrypted are currently unable to be replaced. We used to be able to replace these encrypted icons if we knew the file names, but since patch 8.2.5, most of them have remained flagged.

This includes the icons for The Dreadwake, Transmorpher Beacon, Hogrus, Meat Wagon, Vulpine Familiar and the Sylverian Dreamer, among others. Pretty much all recent promotion/store related items are affected.

There is nothing we can do about this. Blizzard needs to flag the icons properly.

Credits

Icons added prior to patch 7.2.5 were processed by suicidalkatt. Everything since then has been processed me. Blizzard owns the original artwork.

I've since posted an update:

https://www.wowinterface.com/downloa...cons-Thin.html

Been a while since I've redone my photoshop automation again.

Extracted from the data mpq's as well.

Nice I hope it works fine now.

Is it possible for you to share the result (Textures/blp edit) so others who want to have that changed can use it too?

There is nothing to fix because the pack is working as intended.

Every single Icon is skinned but that doesn't affect colored borders.

For Buff's and Debuff's you will need to do a custom Layer for the Border because otherwise it will use the default Blizzard one.

It is simply a separate thing.

If you got a compatible texture: UI-Debuff-Overlays.blp you just put it in your Buttons Folder which should be located in the WoW Interface Folder.

That's it.

If your Addon got custom Borders for Buff's and Debuff's you need to edit the Addontextures or ask the Author to set a cleaner looking Border.

This Pack is only a replacement for the default Blizzard Icon's not for other related Layers.
Hey, thanks! I'm trying to do this now with a blank texture, but I'm not getting it to work as intended... Is there anything I need to know about what makes it compatible?

Sadly it is flagged as encrypted and we can't replace it. Read the "known issue" section of the description page...

Hi there,

The pack seems to be missing the Ensorcelled Everwyrm (mount) icon.

Thanks!

This wouldn't be much work for me so I'll try to include a separate optional "update" package for the next release with just the new icons.

The main reason I haven't been doing this already was because I tend to release several small updates during PTR/alpha/beta with each build and it'd be confusing for someone who just wants to update once the patch is live and not during the PTR process.

In the mean time, maybe sorting the files by date modified would work?
Update: it turned out to be a lot of extra work to upload a separate package up here on WoWI so I'm just gonna put it on my own server and link it to you here: CleanIconsThin-Patch-8.3-to-9.0.2.36086.zip

Enjoy.

Replacing icons still seems to work in 9.0 just like in 8.x at least.
You can easily extract the icon with CASCExplorer from the beta client https://github.com/WoW-Tools/CASCExplorer/releases

First of all, great work!

1. This is what my buttons look like with Clean Icons installed: https://imgur.com/h0uFImf

You can see the border line of the buttons is too thick, especially the top and the bottom ones, making the buttons look a little bit weird and kind of messy.

2. And this is what they look like with Masque turning on: https://imgur.com/Kx392ap

The border line in general is still a bit too thin but much better. This is also how my buttons look at on live servers.

3. This is what I am king of looking for: https://imgur.com/whYOmk2

The border line is thick enough, making the buttons stand out and looks much much better than the above 2.

I don't know why my buttons look the way in no.1 and I'm wondering if there is a way to solve this and achieve no.3 with Clean Icons installed?

Thank you so much!
