QuestHelperLite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 6.0.3.a
by: wakezero [More]

QuestHelperLite is an unofficial branch of QuestHelper aimed at providing the core subset of features in a slimmed down lighter version. Although some of the code and art assets of QuestHelper have been utilized, QuestHelperLite has been rewritten from the ground up and is in no other way affiliated with QuestHelper and those who have worked on it in the past.

The main deviation from QuestHelper comes from not utilizing a custom database to store quest objectives and locations. Instead QuestHelperLite gets all of it's info from the game itself. This has the advantage of providing a more compact addon without the need to update once new quests are available in game. If WoW knows about it, so does QuestHelperLite. Although this provides for a much lighter and compact addon, it is not without faults and some features of the old QuestHelper are not currently possible.

The core subset of features included in QuestHelperLite are as follows:

* Quest Pathing - Calculates an optimal route for you to follow while questing
* Tracking Arrow - A configurable arrow guides you to your next objective
* World Map Icons - Quest objectives are viewable outside of your current zone
* Ant Trails - Ant trails show the best calculated optimal route
* Context Menus - Context menus are displayed when you right-click objectives
* Ignorable Objectives - Ignore unwanted objectives

QuestHelperLite will stay updated with donors like you!

Since I have installed QHL, the icons from HandyNotes keep flashing around the border of my minimap. Disabled QHL and it stopped.

This doesn't work in MoP or in WoD.

The UI says it's been blocked and that only the default Blizzard UI can do that, when I try to use quest items. And if I just walk around, sometimes the arrow will bug out and become two arrows and the part that makes it look like an error disappears, and you just see 2 warped green things.

This is currently broken for me.

For some reason hovering over the quest bubble #'s on the minimap it's not showing the tooltip, it may be a conflict with my many other addons. Trying to find that out now.

Rammoth, try disabling all Addons except QH and you will find that it works, it is another addon you have installed that is causing a conflict somehow. I know because the same thing is happening to me.

Oh, I am surprised this was updated!

Now I can use an old favorite again.

Does this contain any known bugs for the latest patch that you know of?

Also, is there any plans for any new features or major changes at all?

I would like to have an option to replace the tracking arrow with my own graphic, by just dropping a GIF image into a folder, and the addon recognize it and use it, if named correctly.

EDIT: With this installed, my tracker doesn't work at all, and neither does the tracking arrow from this addon...

Instead of functioning, it breaks the entire quest system...

With this mod enabled, every single time I turn in one quest and the next one in the chain automatically pops up, the text is blank. This seems to happen especially often on quests that I turn in via clicking on the quest tracker, but I've seen it happen a good number of times when speaking to NPCs as well. This is really annoying, as we like to read the quest text aloud, and this forces us to accept the quest, then open it from the quest log in order to read it. I doubt it has anything to do with race/class, as I'm a worgen priest and my partner is a human paladin. We've both seen it happen throughout levels 1-45 so far.

However, the fact that this mod pinpoints exactly where we need to go to get certain items makes it indispensable, so annoying as that issue is, we'll most likely keep using it

Is there a way to make a quest objective lower priority without removing it from the quest tracker entirely? I run into a lot of situations where I'll have one quest to kill a bunch of dudes, and another quest to collect things from the place where the dudes are, but the arrow is pointing me towards a generic location where the dudes are located. I'll probably kill all of them by the time I collect all of the things, and I'd rather prioritize getting the things first and then killing the dudes afterward if I still need any more.

That does bother me honestly. But despite that, the addon works.
I think I'm going to just comment out the section in the lua about the channel. Its annoying having it change my channels.

Good morning and sorry for a dumb question.

With regular questhelper i had a "?" sign at questlog border. While pointing at that sign questlog could be dragged and moved onto a different spot.

With QuesthelperLight i don't see that and therefore can't move quest log.. it's stuck at the right middle part of my screen.. i used to drag it to top left.

What's the way to drag quest log to a different spot? Thanks

Suggestion for suggested route optimization

Hello,

First of all, thanks for making this addon, it's exactly what I needed (questhelper without a gigantic database) and certainly helps deal with the "loss" of the original questhelper. I just wanted to suggest something:

Problem: Unlike the original QH, QHL does not take into account quest turnin locations for quests in progress while calculating the best path. (like suggesting that you do several quests first then turn them in together because the turnin guys are in the same area).

I assume this is because QHL can not get information regarding quest turnin locations from the bliz questtracker, until the quests are actually complete. A possible workaround for this that I can suggest is:

- Remember who you got the quest from, and assume the turnin location is the same. Calculate paths accordingly.
- When quest is complete, update turnin location and recalculate paths.
- (Delete assumed turnin location when quest is complete, to stay lightweight)

Granted, not all quests are turned in to the person you get it from, but this change would probably make the suggested route very close to optimal.

Well, just a suggestion.

But anyway, I've moved on to some other quest tracking mod, because this one never really does work for me, I can't track any quests with it.

I think the reason you got hostile, was because of my capitalized text and mis understood it. It wasn't intended to complain in a ridiculous loud way, it was to make something CLEAR. End of story.

Of course it's Software, and no I am not treating as such. I am treating it as something I've tried, and am having problems with it. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no need to compare.

This is text, you can't just assume that I'm approaching this in the wrong way based on how the text is typed here. That would be stupid actually. Ask me next time, instead of throwing your words out at me like that.
You just wrote 200 words formally defending your right to sound like a tool on a videogame addon messageboard. You Are Taking This Too Seriously.

Any word on an update, Wakezero?

This is software; you're treating it like a bad breakup or something.

I HAVE noticed that QHL seems to refuse to track a few specific quests even with all the filters turned off. The most recent one was http://www.wowhead.com/quest=13906/they-grow-up-so-fast

"Manually tracking" quests shouldn't even be necessary, because QHL should really track ALL quests unless they're excluded by its filters. With all filters off, every quest should appear on the tracker, and that doesn't seem to be the current behavior for some reason. Hopefully wakezero will be able to look into this and improve it after the holidays

Finally got around to sending a donation, btw. Happy new year! :3

Much appreciated, and happy new year to you too!

I have also noticed a few quests that either won't track or show the wrong locations. A lot of it has to do with the new world format, and the last version of Astrolabe I am using.
