MagnetButtons  Updated Today!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.8.26
by: Nightness [More]

Description

MagnetButtons is an addon that can create any number of free moving action buttons. Any MagnetButton can be individually moved around anywhere on the screen, and will also "magnetically-lock" to any side of another MagnetButton (both buttons need to be set to the same scale for this to work). MagnetButtons is being designed to not only work on it's own, but also to be used by other addons via a script API (documentation coming soon).

MagnetButtons supports items, spells, trinkets, macros, flyouts, pet spells and actions, and toys. This includes while in-combat. Support for mounts, companions, fly-outs, and inline macro's (macro text not saved any place except in the button) will happen soon.

MagnetButtons is also available on CurseForge and Twitch. But only stable versions will be placed there, I upload everything here. If the addon seems stable after a couple of days, then I'll put it on Twitch.

Creating Buttons

You can create buttons automatically by dropping drags right on to the background window while holding the shift button down. There is also a slash command "/newb" that will create a new empty button in the middle of the screen and a keyboard binding available for the /newb command. Please note that all pet spells need to dragged from the spellbook, and not from an action bar.

Manipulating Buttons

Buttons can be changed at anytime by using them as a drop target.

  • Press Control+LeftClick (over the button) to display a button's properties frame; allowing you to change the scale, set targets, or delete the button.
  • Press Shift+LeftClick (over the button) to drag the button around.
  • Pressing the "Alt" key over a button will act normally (self-cast).

Targeting

MagnetButtons supports using specific targets for a button. Unit targets can be set in the button's properties. Valid values for unit targets can be found here.

Future Plans
  • Start using CurseForge and Twitch as other ways to deploy the addon
  • Full support for all the bell's and whistles of other buttons (range dots, border flash, sparkle when cool-down expires, etc...)
  • Add conditional display for buttons, so only want a button to appear in raids or a battleground, that is the only time it's displayed.
  • Icon customization without the need to create a macro.
  • Moving buttons as a block of buttons
  • Pimp out the properties dialog to fully take advantage of all features of Blizzard's secure button template.
  • Documented API for other addons to use.
  • Masque theme/skinning support

Changes Version 0.8.17
=================
* Fixed bugs that were not completely fixed by 0.8.16

Changes Version 0.8.16

Changes Version 0.8.15
=================
* Gave the properties dialog a higher strata than the buttons, so it will appear above magnet buttons.

Changes Version 0.8.14
=================
* Finally was able to get drop to the background to create new buttons. It still doesn't work with toys, but does with the other supported types, including from action bars.
* Minor bug fixes.

User Poll

So you might have noticed that you have gained a more streamlined item discard... "Drag and drop then ask" vs. "drag and drop, then click again, then ask" to delete bag items. But you do sacrifice the ability to drop cursor contents on a target to trade it to them. Does anyone even care about losing this functionality? I can make drop to the background to create a button optional.

Edit: NVM I think I know of a good way to have my cake and eat it too; and re-enable this functionality.
