Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

I tried this out last night running around chasing dragons, but I ran into a problem.

The defecit numbers aren't updating, though the healthbar display is. I'm used to looking for the deficit and healing accordingly - there were multiple times where I'd panic and drop a max-rank heal on someone who was at full HP because the number was still displaying "-3602" or the like.

Anything I can do to fix that?

Feature request?

I'd like to invert some of the options. I'd like a dot to show if someone Does Not have Prayer of Fortitude specifically. Is this something in there already that I'm missing?

Dragluin:
Try GridStatusMissingBuffs .

Clytemnestra:
It sounds like you have another status that can't be displayed as text set on the center text indicator with a higher priority than unit health. Not all statuses work with all of the indicators. To prevent the confusing "stuck" text, I'll change it so that the text will disappear if it attempts to display a status that can't be displayed on a text indicator. Expect to see a new version later this week.

I have a similar issue as Dragluin. I'd like to have the Grid boxes completely transparent if the person does NOT have a debuff on them. Once they get a debuff, they light up. I went looking for a "not cursed" status and no luck. I then tried to figure out how to set the default alpha to 0, which could be changed upon someone getting debuffed, but I couldn't find an option to do that either. Any advice?

That's not currently possible. I'll probably add a 'unit alive' status so that you can set the 'unit alive' alpha to 0 and assign it to the frameAlpha indicator with a low priority and then also assign the cursed status to the frameAlpha with a non-0 alpha and a higher priority.

Righto, I'll give it another go later this week. I think I need to not try and set up mods in the middle of fights because I'm not entirely sure what-all I had set to centre text...

I have a question.

My friend just installed this addon and he's having some trouble with it. He cannot see any debuffs but his own in a raid and can't figure out what is wrong. He tried a fresh install deleting his saved variables but that didn't work either. This is also is happening to a few others in my guild.

I installed this addon tonight and had no troubles with debuffs. I was able to see them throughout the raid.

Any ideas to try and fix this?

I got a strange problem with Grid...
I am using Grid-r19334 right now, and for some reason the Grid frame snatches to the top of my ccreen. I can't drag it down, it will go back everytime.
I deleted Grid, the savedvariables and so on...it happens again all the time. What actually did work, is using an old savedvariable file from before 2.0 - it stays fixed as long as i don't change anything, but if i do, the snatch-to-top thing starts again...
It's really annoying because i can't live without Grid anymore
Anyone got an idea what could cause the problem?

I was having that snap to top problem when I have Trinity buttons loaded. As soon as I disable Trinity buttons, the problem goes away. Using Bongo bars now instead of Trinity.

Due to not Decursive nor Emergency monitor would be working anymore I looked at this Addond and tought it realy looked nice, ran a BWL raid last night and healing and everything worked great, easy to see the HP of all the people in the raid and such. But to my dissapointment I wasnt able to see if a target had a curse/poison on them, for some reason I tought that Grid was able to show that? was I wrong or have I missed some setting to turn it on?

i have pretty much the same problem as outlined below -- the magic/poison/curse/disease display portion of grid isn't functioning properly. i can get the center icon, border state and corner icons to when i personally get debuffed, but i don't see anything if anyone else in the raid is hit with it.

i've gotten the latest revision from the wowace.com/files section (r19528) and the problem persists. any help with fixing this would be much appreciated -- other than this one hitch, i'm really enjoying grid and would hate to have to look for an alternative.

If you downloaded Grid from wowace.com/files or the wowace svn, please don't post here. The wowinterface releases are actually tested. Anything from wowace.com is bleeding-edge and may or may not work.

I'll look into the problem with trinity, but if bongos and bartender3 don't cause the same problem, it's likely that the author of trinity will have to fix something.

For what it's worth, r19528 is showing debuffs for me just fine. Turn on debugging for the GridStatusAuras module and check your combat log (or whatever your ChatFrame2 is) for debug messages.

Alpha and range

How can i change the amount of "alpha" (whether in option or in LUA)?

What i like todo is:

For PvP, i would like the players who are out of range to set there alpha REALLY low, or even 0

Anyway todo this?
