Unless you have more than 10 debuffs active on your character while you're adjusting the setting, you won't see any change in what's displayed on the screen, since 10 debuffs per row is the minimum setting.
If you do have more than 10 debuffs active, and can give me a reasonable way to reproduce this condition, please let me know....

Addons have no access to the class-colored player blips, and can only "modify" some other types of blips through a special API that only allows setting the texture, not setting the vertex color, so even if it were possible to replace the class blips, you would have to edit the texture file yourself in Photoshop or a similar program....

You can accomplish the same thing, with less effort, by setting up a dual spec profile for your healing spec(s) and setting all of the layouts to "None". Then, any time you switch to your healing spec, Grid will automatically switch to a profile that doesn't show any frames.

Altering the TOC number is strongly discouraged, for a number of reasons, not least that it makes it much more difficult to track down problems caused by addons that haven't been updated in a few patches. Blizzard put the checkbox into the game on purpose; there's no reason not to use it.
