Core 2.3.2

A core patch to Minion 2.3.2 Beta has been released. Please note that this is a patch only to the Minion core: No WoWInterface functionality has changed. Minion updates itself automatically -- you should be alerted from within Minion about the available update. Because the update is not a critical update, you must explicitly allow the update by going to the "tools" menu and choosing "module center" and then pressing the "update core" button.

This is primarily a bugfix patch which focused on the following objectives:
  • Fix Mac OS issues with temporary directories
  • Fix issues with unusual addon metadata causing the configuration file to become invalid
  • Add manual "refresh" capability

The full changelog can be found at http://www.mmoui.com/bugs/changelog_page.php

Please post any issues with the upgrade path here. Thanks,

Changelog requires a login?

Shirik 08-22-09 07:38 PM

I don't control that, sorry :)

forty2j 08-24-09 01:30 PM

The change log doesn't seem to be showing "closed" issues.. only "resolved" ones.. e.g. the infamous 244 isn't in the change log for 2.3.2.

Shirik 08-24-09 02:00 PM

That was because the issue was in the "reopened" state (despite the fact that it was closed) instead of the "fixed" state. I've corrected that.

Thanks,

Vista-64

When I go to update the CORE, it tells me it needs to close the Minion. I do this, and the subsequent window hangs on "Waiting for MMOUI Manager to close." There are no associated processes to kill, it looks like it's just sitting there.

CobraA1 08-25-09 06:12 AM

If you look at your task manager list, there's probably one or more "javaw.exe"s listed. That would be the process to kill.

Checked it last night..

Horray! Mac happiness again.

Well, I am a technological idiot this day and I can't get the core update to work. And to be honest have not have very good luck with minion at all.

Using beta software that's in active development probably isn't the best thing for you then. Once this software is out of beta things should be stable enough for you.

Why can't you get the update to work? If you want help you need to post more information.

Here is the screen shot of the error message.

hi
do you have a minion.jar file in the install directorey ??

if you are getting Waiting for MMOUI Manager to close error

make a copy of minion.jar and rey name it minion2.jar so now you have a minion.jar and minion2.jar and run minion2.jar and then update the CORE

Terranell 08-30-09 08:05 AM

There's a thread a few down the page about that error.

Shirik posted this to fix it:

Right click on the shortcut icon and choose "Properties." In the window that appears, look for a field that says "Working Directory" or "Start In" and fill it in with the location where Minion is installed (such as "C:\Program Files\MMOUI Minion")
Hope that sorts it for you, but it is beta software so there are going to be hiccoughs at times!

Cannot update. Sticks on 'Waiting for MMOUI Minion to close...'. Checked Task Manager, no other Java apps running.

Found fix for Core 2.3.2

Hey everyone, for those of you having an issue updating to Core 2.3.2 I have found a solution for those of you running Vista or 7. The issue is a result of Minion not having access to the directory in which it was installed, in my case, C:\Program Files (x86)\Minion. There are two ways to correct this problem, 1 - Uninstall Minion and reinstall it to a directory outside of Program Files, Program Files being an administrator protected directory. 2 - Locate the directory containing javaw.exe, right click javaw.exe, click Properties, click Compatibility, then check Run as Administrator, Click Ok. By using the 2nd method you grant Minion, as well as any other Java App, admin priviledges to the Program Files directory, however this is NOT RECOMMENDED, although it corrects the issue, some may not like the fact that Java has admin rights, so the 1st option is your best bet. Hope this helps.

Any idea why, on Linux x64, my Update Core button would be greyed out?
