will not load
I had Wow crash on me and I am trying to load NUI, but it will not load. It is in the interface/addons folder, but when I log on it is not in the addons. I am lost without it. I hate the wow ui, because it clutters your screen. What do I need to do? Also is Healbot going to be added to NUI?

Odds are that you're playing on a Windows Vista machine... yes? If so, you're probably installing nUI into the wrong path. Vista doesn't use the usual c:\program files\world of warcraft\interface\addons directory for addons.
Make sure you are installing nUI in the correct directory. If you are logging into WoW and clicking "AddOns" at the character selection screen and do not see nUI listed, that's your problem. |
You are correct I am using Vista and it is in C:WOW/Interface/Addons. Where should it be? That is the only directory I have for WOW and to place addons. It was in there before the crash and worked great.

If you had installed Lich King on Vista the installation asked you if you wanted to move your game into Users/Public/Games. Assuming at the time you said yes there may be another copy of wow in that folder. That would be where addons are running from.
I had the problem myself on this computer here and ended up reinstalling WoW to get it back into the correct folder as I believe I said no the first time. There may be an easier way though so might be worth looking at this post in case they describe how to get it working without reinstalling. http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=14650 |
I do not have a games folder in user. The only copy of Wow is in C: WOW. I did what the web suggested and still not showing up in add on the character page.

If you are absolutely sure you are installing it to the correct path then odds are its not being unzipped correctly try a different program to unzip I use WinRar personally
|
The only other thing I can think of is running it in Administrator mode but I think thats what that link explained somewhere. I did the easier route and just reinstalled in the public folder.
|
I use Winrar and I also am running them as administrator. The only add on I can't run is NUI. I got the others to run after deleting them and then re downloading. I am trying to run nUI+ Development Version 5.03.11, is this the correct one to try and load?
|
Yes, that is the latest code set and is usually stable enough for use, barring unforeseen problems. Once everything looks cozy and he stops adding changes to it - rofl - it will ultimately become a release version.
|
Do this... search your entire system for the filename "*.toc" and see what folders they show up in. I am going to bet that you'll find the mods you have installed that work are in a different path than nUI is in.

Yes it is in the same directory. Everything is in C:/windows/World of Warcraft/interface/addons. All the toc files are in there as well. The only program that is not working is NUI and that is the one I want the most. Should I try deleting it once more and load a older version and hope for the best. I am lost without NUI.
|
Wow that really doesn't make any sense .. if the addons that are working are not anywhere else then nUI should be working too .. I cannot see anyway one addon won't appear in the list while another one does.
|
I am at a total loss as well. I have done nothing different and all the add ons are in the interface/addon folder each in its own folder and they work. I just can't get NUI to work and that is the one I want to work. It is not showing up in the add button in the character area. I am desperate to get NUI to work.

Is nUI being unpacked correctly with all of the sub-directories intact, etc?
You should have a directory structure that looks something like this... Interface > AddOns > nUI > nUI.toc Interface > AddOns > nUI > Bars Interface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts Intefface > AddOns > nUI > Layouts > Default Interface > AddOns > nUI > Main (and so on) You should also have the file [ Interface > AddOns > nUI > nUI.toc ] -- yes? Did you follow my prior instructions and search your hard drive for "*.toc" and see what file paths showed up? What is the name of one of the addons you have installed that *is* working? |
This is how I got nui to work. I downloaded it into C:WOW, then cut and pasted it into public games:WOW/Interface/Addons. Everything is working perfectly. I have no clue why I had to do this, but it worked so I am once again happy to have the best UI on my game screen. I want to thank everyone for all the help you gave me.

Ummmmmm i thought you didn't have wow installed in the vista default public/games folder?
|
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it there.
|
which is why blizz is trying to get people to have it isntalled in the public/games directory on vista systems. vista security protocals prevent many programs and files from being called or run from other locations such as c/programfiles or c/windows without going through a dance to aprove them like this
