A picture is worth...

Those of you who send me your bulk e-mails, forwards, jokes and memes know that I'm one always quick to point out urban legend, hoaxes, etc.

This is an e-mail meme I received today (and have several times in the past) that I though was worthy of sharing with everyone... for the benefit of those who have issues with the US presence in the middle east, I'd like to offer you a glimpse of the side of the story often left untold...

On this 9-12, I would ask all Americans to take a second to remember who we are and who we were the day after 9-11

We are all imperfect, but our heart is true.

todd0168 09-12-09 11:35 PM

Amen.

*I would leave it at that but there is that damn minimum character thingy*

That is probably one of the sweetest things about which I've ever read. That's called really making a difference.

I think something most people don't consider about war is that while there is a great deal of killing and mayhem that takes place, the chaos makes room for the restoration of order and balance. I may not agree with the politics behind the war, and I might want to bring our boys home, but I can appreciate the reality of the fact that there are good things happening in the middle of all the muck.

This is so beautiful...

Very adorable. The demand for pictures is momentarily satisfied. Now you must sing us a song and dance a jig!!

No idea what possessed me to write that.

Lovely pic all the same and congrats again =)

I don't sing and only Irish dance jigs, however, being a good Scotsman as I am, I would be happy to play you some truly annoying tune on the bagpipes.

:D

It's only annoying if you don't like the sound of Bagpipes :P

Or don't know how to control your air when playing it. Tends to squeak like a clarinet if your inexperienced hehe.

Actually, I *love* good bagpipes... it is in my blood and done right the bagpipes can move the soul. Of all of funerals I've had the misfortune to attend in my life, the thing I have always remembered most was the sound of the pipes breaking the deafening silence. It's a majestic instrument when done right.

MidgetMage55 09-17-09 06:39 PM

One of the most interesting things about the bagpipes is they were not originally an instrument for music such as they are today. They were used as a Instrument (weapon?) of war. Gotta love the Scots!

Pipes have always been an instrument of war and in many ways, still are...

So, yeah... that was depressing. For a laugh...

Actually... yes... I have heard a pipe player ask "Are you ready to rock?!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cshrHakg5hs

This could possibly tear a hole in the fabric of the universe...

You can honest to God rock bagpipes... ask Cam... he'll show you...

Likewise. I may not be pure Scots but I have enough to count. Plus I have been able to track my mother's family name to Scotland (Aberdeen area). A good bagpiper can get the blood moving and emotions stirring.

@Scott, your granddaughter is cute. Reminds me of my daughter at that age though my daughter had more hair on her head.
