BlizzCon 2009 - Community Plans

[Edit] The hotels that Blizzard has arranged group rates with are listed on their BlizzCon Travel page.

I know that last year I arranged a group rate for any that wanted to get in on it. I tried to look into doing the same thing again this year, but I can't come up with any one place that meets the various criteria that have been set. Either a hotel is [too expensive], or [too far away], or doesn't have [acceptable internet access], or isn't [acceptable quality] or ....

So, sorry guys, but not coming up with a group rate this year. I know that Blizzard will have deals worked out with some of the hotels as per usual so of course you should definitely look at those when Blizzard gets them posted.

In the meantime, based on variations of the criteria listed above (price, distance, quality, internet access) - these are 6 of the different hotels I was considering for attempting to get group rates at and/or have been recommended by people that stayed at them in previous years:

Hilton
Marriott
Clarion
Stovall's
RedLion
Cortona

Dinner - do we want to do another "UI Community Dinner" thing again this year?

If yes, I need to start getting an idea of the number of people that would want to attend, and the general price range they would be willing to pay. Each year the group going is getting larger and larger, which is making it harder and harder for me to find somewhere that will accept a group large enough without being pricey.

Disney - same question.

Not that this really matters quite so much, everyone has to get their tickets on their own, it's just to get a general idea whether a bunch of us want to hook up to go to Disney or not, and if yes, to know who all is going so we make sure we all wait for each other. :)

BlizzCon 2009 - General Chit Chat

thanks for the info, I stayed at the cortana last year even though I am a local, this year I'm hoping for the hilton as the proximity can't be beat.

As for dinner, yeah, I would be up for that, it was fun getting to meet you guys and actually sit down and talk shop for a few hours.

As for a place, not sure, bubba gump's (This menu is not their whole selection, they do have more) is now open, and it's within walking distance of the convention center and the main hotels. (yes they serve other things than shrimp... chicken and burgers are also on the menu)

Oh, that is close. My hubby and I have meant to go to a Bubba Gump in the past, but didn't get to.

Tickets last year were $100 bucks.

I'm going to be there for whatever is going on :)

I SO wish I could go .. maybe meet a few of the people from here and who I play with ... but unfortunately it is across the country for me (wish they would do a Boston edition too) AND I really don't have the cash for airfare, room and board and living expenses.

To everyone going this year ... enjoy and have a GREAT time. (Someone grab an extra free in game item code for me. I would even be willing to pay for one .. depends on asking price of course ;) )

I will definitely be up for going to dinner and disneyland. I look forward to seeing everyone again this year.

Kaydeethree 05-05-09 07:25 PM

I'm probably in. Just trying to decide where to stay.

Food? I'm ok with $30-40 for dinner. Wherever we can find a place.

Disney? Not likely this year.

taco-man 05-16-09 11:06 AM
