Pugs sux - plz fix this addon
 

This was my most favorite addon..

It did so much...

Helped make new friends that play at the same time on the same server.

And did i mention, pugs suck?

Addon: Polite Whisper

Could someone please dig in and release a similar addon or a fan update for
this addon Polite Whisper ?
This was probably the most important addon one could use.

You have to admit, Blizzard's attempt at the LFG feature, was effective for getting a group..

But the problem was that there was no accountability..
Poor results are to be expected in a pug (pick up group)
But it's just becoming a torturous task now.
This addon made it possible to not want to strangle your cat after pugging a couple times.

So please, all you addon authors and cat lovers.. PLEASE fix this addon

Tweaker misses it, but does anyone else?

I just use the LFG/LFR system these days.

this also helped by doing more dungeons with the same people.. as you notice now, everyone leaves after the dungeon is complete...

I used to play an entire day just doing dungeons with familiar people.. even got mail and msgs from people I had grouped with in the past, asking if anything was going on today and to get ahold of them..


the new lfg lacks the personal touch... now we cross realm deal with all sorts of bs

I use the LFG system myself and use the ignore list to weed out people I don't want to be grouped with again. People seem to forget it avoids matching you with anyone on your ignore list. If you want to group with someone in the future (even cross realm), you can add them by BattleTag. Blizzard has made it much easier to run with people you want and avoid ones you don't want.

I know LFG has a bad reputation of having crappy players, but there are some good ones too. I met my GF randomly in a LFG dungeon and now we've been living together for almost 4 years.

Whisper spam is never a good plan of action. If people want to do dungeons with strangers, they'll queue in the LFG system. Nobody wants to be spammed with whispers asking them to do dungeons, and sending such spam is a good way to get yourself added to many ignore lists, which will hurt you once you realize that whisper spam sucks and go back to using the LFG system, since you are now ineligible to get into groups with any of those players.

Who said anything about whisper spam?

Even though calling it spam is a little over the top, it is what the addon does. It's a control panel in which aids the user in sending unsolicited messages to other players. This is one example where an addon is on the edge of an immoral cause. It proves to some people to be an invaluable tool and a nuisance to others. This is in line with addons specifically made to greet people logging in and congratulate others for achievements. While handy in which they don't require the user to respond, they completely defeat the purpose of message when sent by an automated system.

Everyone who I have ever used to send a msg to with the addon has been kind, thankful and nothing bad to say.. ever... maybe that's why he named it "Polite Whisper"

Hence why I commented on Phanx's overreaction, but she has a point. Part of the addon is to fool others into thinking you actually took the time to type the message out yourself, when instead, you just clicked a few buttons. While better than blind group invites, its existence counteracts its own purpose if it was discovered by the recipient.
