ROFL, that looks like the closet/arsenal of some of my relatives in Montana.

Not nearly enough ammo for a zombie apocalypse. Good start though =P

That doesn't include the Desert Eagle .50 pistol I keep for show, and freaking out the people at the range, plus a snub nose .38. My wife's preferences lean more towards the shiny.. she has a .44 revolver, chrome finish, 6 shots, plus a speed loader for it.. and a Colt 1911 with ivory inset handle. Beautiful guns, but not my style. I don't really like handguns, just have the 38 for when I really need it, and the .50 is a "hey look at this" gun. Pretty much useless in a fight. I'd be dead long before I was able to pull it out and aim it. lol break19 |
I'm partial to shotguns myself. I appreciate the fact that close counts.

Yup.
And then there's always the option of "I think he's on the other side of the wall riiiiiight about theeeeeeeeere.... Yup... Close counts. |
Oh, yes indeed. My favorite close range weapon in 'Nam was a 40 mm grenade launcher loaded with canister. Then for long range, you stick in a grenade. heheh.
About the "not so fond of hand guns" there's this: "Said I preferred a rifle. Didn't say I didn't know how to use a hand gun." - Matt Quiqley, just after fatally shooting the bad guy - with a hand gun. (Tom Selleck, in "Quigley Down Under"). "The right to buy weapons is the right to be free." -- A.E. Van Vogt, The Weapon Shops of Isher, 1951. |
I do not own any firearms nor have I since left home. However growing up, I had a .243 for hunting (small bullet but high power, less damage to the meat of whatever I was hunting). My parents also had an old .30-30 (the old lever action rifle you saw in many Westerns), that likely dated from before the 1900s. Still worked nicely. For home defense, we had a couple of handguns and a 12 gauge shotgun (plug removed for extra shells. My dad carried a 9mm in his truck along with plenty of ammo. My mom on the other hand packed a .357 Magnum when she made solo road trips. Yup, you didn't want to mess with Mom, she could ruin your day.
Personally, since I live in Italy, I like my sword that rests next to my computer desk. Your average home intruder is usually going to think twice about taking on someone who is packing a meter long pointy piece o' steel and the willingness to use it. Especially if said wield o' steel has also buffed himself with "Beserker". Yes, the Scottish blood does sometimes show itself... |

Hmm, I think I am not in the mood for a Whopper just now...

Well. I've always kinda had the idea that the big creepy plastic-headed guy with the scary grin and a crown was a bit douche-like, and now it's confirmed!
