Because you were spoiling the joke long before most people got the chance to enjoy it.

Like I put up in my little "support" post before it was removed, it simply altered the fps display in the tooltip when you moused over the icon on the menu bar, giving the impression of increased framerate. It multiplied your actual framerate by 1.4 and gave you that display instead. :)

It's something I've never understood. I just don't get why some people always feel the need to spoil the fun for everyone else. Quite frankly, it's annoying.

To be honest, it's the "I've been fooled haven't I?" factor... at least for my post. I fell for the 'joke', downloaded the addon, and used it... I even convinced my GF to get it because I thought it was doing a good job.

I live in Australia, but you could probably hear my /facepalm in the States when I read the code and realized most of it was commented out to give the impression that it actually does something when it was really a April fools joke.

GAH you people are lame!

Even I figured out the second it was dropped it was a joke. I have a rig so damn well built and powerful that no addon will ever improve my FPS. I get 85 fps in Dalaran, I'm just that good.

Actually, it's not commented out, it's valid syntax for a string, see the below for example. The code is 100% valid and would technically work thought.

It merely changes the output of the functions that return net and FPS stats.

Man, after the exquisite outrage I felt over last year's "joke" (which I still have a sneaking suspicion will become a reality someday) I'm kinda sorry I wasn't around for this year's lark. :p
