updating addons that dont need updated

just built myself a new pc, xferred over all my addons and wtf folder from my old laptop. downloaded minior shortly thereafter and launched. it comes up with 16 or so interfaces needing updated, however the versions i have are currently on the latest release. furthermore updating them when the bar reaches a full state they will say "unable to delete <insert addon here>". it's trying to delete my files too o.o.

anything that may be causing this that i can fix?

heya

it's deleting the old files and puts the new files there instead of just overwriting. this process is the so called clean install.

try and see if ur folders are protected from writing, because in this case only human actions (like from u) can delete the folders, but not an app.

oooh ok that makes sense. wasn't even aware minion did clean installs. that's pretty neat. how would i go about checking to see if my files are protected from writing and, by extension, fix it?

if you installed wow to its default location, move it. you can cut/paste the directory out to somwhere like a \games folder or even the root of the hdd. that should fix it up.

ah thank you much. i never had this problem with my old laptop but then again....this is my first time building a pc so a lot of this is just uncharted territory for me.

Actually, on Windows Vista and Windows 7, WoW's default location isn't Program Files. When WotLK was released, it even recommended that users allow the program to move itself out of that directory.
