how do i turn on the tracking beasts or humanoids on the map it is driving me crazy?

Small button in the upper left corner of the minimap (not the possibly minimized carbonite map, blizzard's minimap). Click (or right-click, don't remember) on it to get a list of things you can trick. Select the ones you want.

BTW, this is a Blizz function, not a carb function. I don't dock or merge the minimap with/in the carb map, so I don't know where this button goes if you do that. Check the button bag, I guess.

It's Blizzards tracking icon, and it looks like a magnifying glass.
