Debuff tooltip
 

Is there a way to get tooltips on the player debuffs that are on the HUD. I would like to know what the effects of unknown debuffs are.

If tooltips aren't available, is there an alternative way to see the effects of a debuff?

Tooltips should be working on the player debuffs. Not sure why they aren't if you aren't seeing them.

The debuff icons on the HUD are SecureButtonTemplates. The code tries to enable/disable their mouse sensitivity during combat based on whether they currently display anything, which is forbidden.

The fix leaves them mouse-sensitive all the time, but turns the handler for mouse events on/off as appropriate, which is allowed.

I've been using the file I posted for about 10 days and it works just fine, for anyone who wants to avoid the problem.

we had a few hotfixes since the posted time

cause i rly need to know the debuffs in the cata raids and the tooltips arent showing:(

Tooltips and auras should be working in 5.07.12

the auras and there tooltips are working on my self.

however the tooltip on my targets auras arent.

also the debuffs that show up next to my hp bar on the hud dont have a tooltip.

so i have no idea what Debuff is on my head :confused:

When you log in to WoW, what version does nUI report has been loaded?

my nui is 5.07.12 plus

and sure the auras are working with the tooltip but..

its the debuffs that dont have a tooltip.

u can see the icon on ur hud but u just have to guess which DEbuff it is.

Hmmm... 5.07.12 should have working tooltips on still auras. I'll look into it.

It appears this is still not working properly, at least for me.
Not a gamebreaker, but does get annoying at times.

I am inserting a picture so you can see what's being talked about, I think. The fix mentioned in this thread does work, but requires some digging into the code and changing things. I'm no developer but I figured it out. Had some trouble with saving the file as it wanted to default to Word, which makes NUI unstable/inoperable.

Is there a way to maybe inset a "/" command in-game so this can be toggled on/off?

Not at the moment as it would still involve a reload of the game. Version 6 will have a GUI option to make the customizations easier from what Scott posted in another thread somewhere.

My latest debuff addon stopped working so I figured I'd check to see if there were any updates on implementing debuff tooltips into nUI. Figures the lack of them were to a bug for the past couple years and that I never knew they were suppose to be there.

I seem to recall someone saying the reason nUI didn't have them was because people were complaining they got in the way. So I just didn't bother checking up on it. I think that was either in BC or Wrath. Hehe.

So anyway, my debuff tooltips aren't showing up and haven't been for....some time. :)

The only way to enable tooltips for buffs and debuffs in the hud is to play with the layout files to enable them.
