I just uploaded a new addon to help migrate macros from Macaroon to Ion here:

I highly recommend loading it at least once if you plan to use Ion (Macaroon's successor) in Mists of Pandaria. Macaroon will not be officially updated for MoP.

maybe ONE last update, to make the macro transfer easier.

Well, I was thinking of making a dummy addon called "Macaroon" that will load the saved data so MMG can scan it, but it would not create any bars or buttons.

Did you ever make that dummy plugin? I am sure there are TONS of macarooners that didnt know this ION switch was coming until yesterday when we were left with no more action bars :)

Is there any way we can import our old settings/bars into the current ION beta?

I am working on it. I am a bit behind my own personal schedule as far as Ion goes, as well as Blizzard releasing 5.0.4 a bit sooner than I expected. My goal is to have a viable means to import macros to Ion from Macaroon data, as well as perhaps bar position.

There are some things that are not compatible between Macaroon and Ion that will not translate. I will know better when we get closer to Mists release.

I'm glad I found this thread before creating my own to ask about it.

Would you mind putting some info on the Ion front page about migrating from Macaroon to Ion? (as in, it's coming, folks! or a link to the addon to do so)

I just reloaded WoW after a long period away and I'm struggling to remember my button layout/keybinds which I know are stored in Macaroon, to remake them in Ion. I realise that not everything will be transferrable as you said, but position, keybind, and macro would be plenty to get most people started, then they could work out the states and whatnot from there, if needs be.

Looks like I'm going to have to make a new layout, heh.

It took me DAYS to get my macroon bars perfect. Id hate to have to redo them all.

if you really are waiting to play WoW, then forget about that for a bit, the Theramore's Fall event is up, and you do NOT want to miss that. i think it ends TOMORROW, in fact!

I am just redoing my bars.. it'll take a few days.

Also, the theramore event isnt going to end. It is a permanent scenario.

It's a permanent scenario, but the mana bomb/everlasting fireworks are going away for good if you care about those.

not to mention, the lvl 85 version of the event ends today. if it hasn't already, i mean...

Importing macros
 

I'm coming at this a bit late, as I took a break from WoW midway thru Cataclysm. Now that I decided to start playing again, I would like to recover all the macro information I had stored in Macaroon. I installed the Ion-MMG (macro grabber) alongside all the other Ion folders, but it doesn't seem to be picking up the macros from any of my characters that used Macaroon. I'm also getting a blank square up on my screen when I open the main options window for Ion. Any suggestions on how to correct these issues would be greatly appreciated. I know I will have to redo all my bars on those characters, but if I can at least get my macros back it would cut my setup time dramaticaly.

Just open your Macaroon saved variables file(s) in Notepad and copy/paste the macros by hand.

Copy the macro and replace all instances of "\n" with an actual line break.
