They said they were doing a wave of beta invites while they switch the servers over.
That and beta starts Thursday 2pm PST.

Not sure what time this happened today, but my account is now flagged for access. It's likely the rest of you have now been flagged as well. Currently installing legion beta.

Obviously beta hasn't started just yet, and the top corner still has it listed as alpha.

I don't think emails will be sent. I don't remember them sending emails for WoD Beta or pretty much since the launcher. You know if you've been invited.

There's a twitch.tv link (posted here on monday, iirc) that noted a 2pm pst thursday drop of beta invites *shrug* It's posted on the internet so it's not like I would bet the house on it -- I'm not even sure you're real, for instance. Not in that hat.

The invites dropped today, the beta servers go up tomorrow.

That was in reference to the drop of Beta, not the drop of Beta invites, which they wisely sent out today, in order to allow people time to DL and prep for tomorrow.

Watcher mentioned both, one right after the other. He mentioned the wave of beta invites going out over the next couple days following the stream before he revealed the May 12th beta launch.
