How many times?

I was reading the thread about how to start a new UI. And I was thinking just how often do people start making a new UI? I don't mean updating, or adding a new addon, I do that.

But how many times do people start from scratch and make a new one?

I would hope once .. but I suppose its possible that an idea doesn't pan out and they have to restart with a different idea. But I suspect that generally happens near the beginning of the project when you are setting up the basics .. if the basics don't work you need to rethink them.

Depends. I was happy over the years with my UI. I never changed a thing until I started
my first tank. Suddenly my healer UI lacked certain informations.
Later when healers and tanks were more common I started a dmg class and realized I did not need
many informations but less and more quickly. Now that I'm old I need more questing stuff ;)

Yep that could be a good reason too .. hmm older = questing more .. sounds about right :P

I used to change up my UI every few months or so. Different positions, sizes, addons, art/graphics, etc.

Then I stopped taking the time. Now I get my design itch out in other ways.

I went through a crazy phase of remaking my UI when I first discovered how to install AddOns way back when, but now I've been using my own for over 7 years and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Pretty much what Seerah said. I work on several projects on the side and when I get inspired to make an AddOn I have to remind myself that there are already so many good solutions out there and I shouldn't reinvent the wheel.
