swtorui

I saw the video of the ui customization.

I was surprise.

Full copy of RDX layout engine...... and our desktop tool.

What do you think ?

Think it's a funny coincidence, it gives people the ability to customize without having to go too far in depth and allow out-of-this-world addon capability like wow does.

I'm sure that it is just a coincidence though, they probably don't know anything about RDX.

can you post a link to that video ?

the 'desktop layout' stuff realy looks close to rdx, but the other stuff... i dont know, to me it looked more like a dumbed down combination of several wide-spread ui addons. looking at the actionbar example in the video, options like that are available in about any actionbar addon i have ever used.

given how long wow exists and how popular interface addons are its obvious that they looked at the most popular ones and portet the main important functions to the swtor ui system - there is nothing bad about that in my opinion, as long as they dont violate any copyrights

Guild Wars had this system where you can drag and scale UI elements too, it's only been improved more by adding more options (than just moving and resizing), and GW is even older than RDX. So the idea isn't that new, hehe.

Not bashing RDX, just saying it's more likely they got the idea from GW. :D

I'd agree.

As I said, coincidence.

It's a pretty standard way of doing ui layout repositioning. I can point you to at least 4 other games that have basically the same thing. Most of them having come out long before RDX was even a twinkle in your eye. :p

i cant remember any games that used a similar system i played, but in the end its just implementing known working concepts into your product - something that is done pretty much everywhere, nothing to worry about
