Samsung Galaxy Nexus -- OH YES!

My birthday present (November 30th) arrived today!

I bought it in the UK and had it shipped to the states since nobody knows when the Nexus will arrive. I had to go into AT&T and get a sim chip, INSTANT crowd. Nobody has seen the Nexus here, I felt like a hooker in a bachelor party.

"Can I see your phone?"."with my hands?"

Looks nice, I'm thinking of buying it myself.
What did you pay for it?

Happy early Birthday :)

Really nice phone man! One of the few android phones that has nice style and texture as well as power.

Finally put the iPhone 4S to rest. LOL

Why would you buy one if you have a 4S (assuming you did?). Anyways, grats to you.

Personally I can't tell the difference with all the Android phones out there, but hey. The crowd says I'm wrong. :D

It's a curse--I must have the coolest gadgets eva!

Haleth 11-25-11 05:41 PM

Heh. I get that feeling but I do my best to suppress it, probably mainly because I lack the money. I guess someone gets a cheap 4s now :D

I just got one myself, I'm quite fond of it. The only thing that bothers me with these awesome gadgets is that I'm afraid of dust/cloth clogging the ports when I put it in my pocket >_>

I own a Galaxy Tab myself. Pretty sweet.

I want this phone badly as well, this or the new droid. Using a BB Storm 2 right now and my contract is over soon.

Birthday is on the 4th, hope I might be able to convince someone to get it for me :)

Since when did WI become a place to try your luck at birfday presents?

What carrier are you on? I hear that Verizon and AT&T may be getting it.

I wasn't asking you guys at all :P just saying I am hoping to get it from family or something.

I am on verizon, but I have no problem switching as the contract ends soon.

;)

So, do you like AT&T or Verizon?

I think Verizon will get it first, and AT&T later on, I think.

Other option is to pay $800 like I did for an international version.

When was your birfday again?

Lily.Petal 12-03-11 05:35 PM

The 4th, and meh. $800 is a little outta my price range atm, I on;y make about 1,500 USD/Month currently, luckily my new apartment is already furnished, all bills paid, only have to pay a fraction of the rent and other benefits. So I might just be able to save up for it if I can't beg Dad and mom.

EDIT: Just realized my birthday is tomorrow lol. GO ME.

Neat phone. I had to reply because I am looking for a good and useful android based phone but with good hardware too, I currently use Nokia N78 but I fear within a half or a year it will be kaput and I need a new one.

My problem is that the cheap android phones seem so unstable, I don't know, get some sort of plastic feel in my mind when I read about them, really low resolution and such. I want my phone not to be overpriced yet to be usable within the next 2-4 years.

Does anyone have some personal experience using one of the latest phones like latest HTC models, and have tried the cheaper once around 450$ and feel they compete with the latest models in term of resolution, smoothness, response times, e.g.

I think it's sad that there isn't much development on the standard phone end, too much focus on the smart phones and I have problems finding a good GPS phone that won't cost me money additional to what I pay for calling, I mean, you can buy a GPS and never pay anything in addition but on my N78 I can't use the GPS without any GRPS turned on, c'mon Google Maps, you can do better! I have 2GB memory card, at least cache all the maps for my city in advance! :(

Anyway, end part is more of a rant/nerdrage thingy. :(

The Galaxy Nexus is by far standing at the forefront of new technology in regards to Android, it's really due to the huge leaps and bounds improvement with 4.0. I had a few previous Android devices; most recently the EVO and EVO 3D. I was not impressed with HTC's devices. So far the Nexus has an incredible battery life compared to my old HTC. I'm a Technology Director with ActiveSync corporate email so I average about 100+ emails a day and roughly 30 calls, at the end of the day my battery has about 40% charge left; with my EVO it would be dead by lunch.

On other fronts, the OS is so damn fast compared to Ginger. Not a single lock up, but occasional apps do crash. This isn't the OS or the hardware, but the fact that not many developers have had a chance to really update their software for 4.0. Right now 4.0 is only available on the Nexus, and those are UK based phones (like mine). Once the US gets their hands on it, apps will be updated fairly quickly.

I can tell you, getting the Nexus on Verizon or AT&T will be worth it if you want a good phone. It's sleek and comfortable, blazing fast, and amazing. I absolutely love the HD screen it boasts and the LTE speeds are incredible on AT&T.
