Loremaster of Kalimdor Achievement - Horde

Has anyone completed this on horde? If so, would you kindly share your strategy? I have searched the entire continent (using low quest tracking), and I can't seem to locate the last few needed for this achievement to complete.

I believe I am currently 677/700. I have done all the quests started from item drops. I have done everything I can think of and still can't find another 20 or so quests to complete this Kalimdor Loremaster achievment.

Remember - this is HORDE side that I'm needing assistance with. I know it's possible. I saw a tauren in Dalaran the other day with the Loremaster title just as I was diving into a portal and during zoning, he logged out and I can't remember his name otherwise I would have asked him for some assistance/advice.

Any information helps. Thanks!

Have you done all realistic instances? If not, there's probably your answer.

Have you done cloth hand-ins ?

Each first cloth handin yields one quest - so that's 3x(Tauren, Orc, ??) x4 (Wool, Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth)

I had a lot of trouble finishing Kalimdor. My last was the turtle escort quest in Tanaris - first time the bloody turtle decided half-way to run back and the quest failed...

Also i found that some quests, i had started in Kalimdor and completed in Kalimdor did not count towards the Kalimdor total and were not repeatable. I think that some quest(lines) are counted towards the other continent (by the quest starter) so some part of them is completed in the other (an example might be the necklace quest for Uldaman - though i cannot verify that any more). If this holds true, you might want to look in eastern Kingdoms for left-over quest chains from Kalimdor - which will be hard. There are 2x bread and butter quests in Thunderbluff that lead to the UC 2nd zone (... Forrest).

In total i wish you good luck. Finishing these 2x old-world achievements was tough as you only have the quest total indicator and no hint which areas are done and where you might have missed doing a quest.

Yes. I have done every instance quest available for Kalimdor. Well, with the exception being AQ stuff. However, I'm not sure that I can get 20+ quests from AQ. I still think I'd need to pick some up somewhere else? Thanks.

Yes, I've done the cloth quests as well.

Did you do all of the starting quests in all of the starting areas? Searched every nook/cranny for quest givers tucked away?

i found some missed ones in stonetalon mts in the south eastern corner theres a small troll encampment and a cave, id give coords but im not logged on and out the door

The only thing you can really do, unless you have the quest history saved, is run through every zone very systematically with track low lvl quest tracking on, and look for any you've missed. You can also download EveryQuest, it has a list of every quest by zone. You should be able to go into the achievement page and see which zones you are missing quests in. Also, check the by zone list of quests on wowhead. I know in the barrens, for example, there are somewhere between 5 and 10 named mobs that all drop items that start a quest to turn the item into an NPC in Camp Taurajo. They all count as quests and all give TB rep, but none of them show up on tracking because they are drops and not something that you go and accept the quest. I know there are quite a few drops like this world-wide, but cannot think of others off the top of my head. It's going to take time and research, and probably a little luck (i know that at least a few of these drops are from rares) but it can be done if you have the patience.

I know there's a named wolf roaming NW of TB that drops an item which starts a quest.

I did that one when doing the Mulgore/Bloodhoof Village quests, Ghosthowl I believe was his name.

Excellent suggestion, I will look into EveryQuest. Thanks.

I missing a few on the EK side. I'm pretty sure I've done most of the instance quests. I gave up on it when Wrath came out. heh

Odd question pherhaps, but have you done Silverpine Forest and quest for Shadowfang Keep? When I did this achievement it turned out that questing in that zone counts towards your Kalimdor-achievement, for some odd reason.

Yep, done those. I did find a couple more that I had forgotten about as a result of the quest being bugged at the time I was level appropriate for it (Stones That Bind Us quest from Fallen Horde near Stonard). This chain leads to some stuff in Kalimdor. I'm hoping it gives me credit for a couple more but I doubt I've found enough to go from 677 to 700 from this one line ;)

On another note, I became aware of some VERY suspicious behavior today with my achievement log. After I hit 80, I continued questing in Sholazar Basin. Anyway, I had done all of the quests around the Nesingwary Camp there. I believe I had 20-25 or so done and complete and showing in my achievement log for the Sholazar zone achievement. Today, after going through my achievement log, I noticed they had all VANISHED from the count. My Sholazar Basin quest count sits at ZERO. How could this be? Just yesterday it was sitting in the 20's and today I've lost the credit for those quests already done.

I have absolutely no faith in the accuracy of the achievement log. It's pretty aggravating that a zone total just arbitrarily resets to ZERO whenever it feels like it. This kind of thing leads me to believe the Loremaster achievements are purely luck. I've already submitted tickets for rare kills not showing up as achievements and was basically told it was a "3rd party mod" causing the recording of the kills, even though at the time of the discussion, the GM had NO IDEA I was even using 3rd party mods.

Blizzard's getting worse. This game is really starting to feel like a paid beta. To be honest, both "expansions" so far don't really feel like expansions. They feel like Blizzard is completing the ORIGINAL GAME. But anyway, that's an entirely different subject.

Anyone else seen things disappear once earned in the achievment logs?

could that be because they are for a tauren and give tb rep? i've been thinking about trying to get this achievement but haven't decided if it's worth the hassle. would involve a lot of hunting down quests for me as i tended to quest wherever i would get the most exp from or where i could get stuff the lvl i needed for professions. even when trying to get exalted with other factions on my draenei (not as hard as with some races since just doing the 2 starting zones for them puts u at honored with rest of alliance factions) i would bounce back and forth to keep the zones from getting too low level for me. more thinking about it on horde tho since i really don't like birds for mounts (tho they r better than non-epic eleks imo) but get bored riding the same old mount all the time & something like that would also get me the rep for the different factions lol.

As a follow up to my previous post - the 29 Sholazar Basin quests I had done showed up again in my achievement log today. I have no idea why or how, or even what made them disappear. In any event, they are back.

Things that make you go hmmm...
