3.0/WotLK AddOn Survival Guide

We were told that people found it really helpful last time, so we're doing it again.

Just like when 2.4 went live, we know that 3.0 is going to have a major impact on a number of addons, and understanding how frustrating it is for users having to check site after site trying to find updates of their favourite addons, we’ve done an AddOn Survival Guide for 3.0 to try to help everyone out. We’ve made a list of over 100 of the top addons across all the major sites (WoWI, Curse, incgamers' and Ace) and put together a page to help. From this one page you can see whether any of these top addons have had an update, a beta update or no update yet for 3.0. If an addon has an update or beta update available, there will be an icon (or icons) that provide a link to the download page for the addon on whichever sites it is available. We will continue to monitor these addons for a few days after 3.0 goes live and revise the page as more get updated, until the rush is over.

If you know of an addon on the list that has been updated and we haven’t refreshed it on the list, please feel free to get in touch with us. You can send a PM to a staff member on the site, join us in irc (irc://irc.freenode.net/WoWUIDev) or by sending me an email: [email protected]. Please be sure to include the link for the updated version.

Hopefully users will find this page helpful. Check it out here (or by clicking the icon to the right) and check back often to see if your favourite addons have been updated yet!

Thanks Cairenn, I am planning on wiping my current UI and start everything from scratch, so this will definitely help grabbing what has been updated.

Awesome guide, really. It looks so good, I'd love to see if a similar layout could be used going forward.

One where you get a listing like in the survival guide, for different categories or other filters/search criteria, vs how an addon is searched out here now (favorites list, various forum topics, etc.). Anyway, the Survival Guide looks really nice and makes it easier to find current versions of addons. Great job.

:) Thank you for again making things easier for add on users :)
Like the first poster, I am going to wipe the UI file and start clean.

*gasp* more than 13000 currently active users now
This is going to be scary when realms come back up, but so far so good ;)

Hammered is hammered -

Most users ever online was 39,480, Today at 09:11 AM.

Want to be *really* scared? Those aren't even remotely close to being the true numbers, by magnitudes ....

Good Job

Never mind the users on line at one time .. I wouldn't want to even think about the bandwidth used

To all that keep this site running ... I give you 2 :banana: (sorry no thumbs-up smiley). Even at it's worst this site never stopped running. That alone is an amazing feat.

I really like the way you give links to the other sites .. that in my book is a class act. The main reason I come here is the fact you guys really are the most helpful people I have ever had the fortune to meet on the internet.

Keep up the good work ...

Now ... if we can get those mods for WAR hosted on your WAR site I will be a happier camper :)

Thank you. It's always nice to hear that people think we're doing a good job. :)

The credit for "keeping us up and running" goes to Dolby. He does an amazing job, especially if you consider that we're also doing all this on a single server ....

Maul 10-16-08 11:41 PM

I whole-heartedly agree. While the site was obviously slowed at times, I never lost access and was able to continue to update addons. I remember previous times where I was all but locked out from WoWI...very sad days

The bestest addon hosting site!

I thought I'd add it was nice seeing comments here and there on the UI forum about a certain updater not working very well...

One site httpd server. We have a dedicated download/static server and database server too. We hope to have a scalable load balanced solution in by the next patch to handle the site browsing traffic.

Anytime I'm asked why I'm so loyal to this site and it's community, I just smile. Once they get here and check it out, they get it pretty quickly.

Thank you so much for always taking care of us!!
