I just wanted point out my more creative side. I created this with 3DSmax and Photoshop. Tell me what you think. It's my interpretation of an early morning at Bag End. I call it Misty Morn.

VERY nice, voodoodad! :)

voodoodad 06-08-09 01:56 PM

Thanks, Cairenn. Now if I could just be that creative with artwork for use in a UI, lol.

That is really nice man.

Ye best be gettin' indoors before the Nazgul be creepin' up on ye. Let yer warcry be heard fer lands to come to yer aid. What a shame it'ld be to see that hole in the dirt be destructed upon. They be aiming fer the Shire first, friend, be warned!

That's an excellent piece, Voodoodad! I've done my share of 3DSMax and Photoshop work, so I know what you must've gone through to make that (not to mention years in traditional media art classes). I wish I had the motivation to do more artwork these days, but games have a funny way of distracting me :p

where are the hobbits?

Petrah 06-08-09 06:12 PM

Very impressive, Voodoo! I would love to see more if you have anything to share :)

Extremely nice! The only thing I think that stands out is the fence. Maybe give it some kind of texture, or aged effect. really though its wonderful work!

I'm always awed when digital artists pull that kind of beauty out of a blank canvas. Well done. /commend

Thanks, all. I originally planned on doing an entire series based on LOTR, but got the WoW bug again for a while. Now I'm a little off on the whole WoW thing (I spend WAY more time on WoWI than WoW:rolleyes:) so maybe I'll start up again. Thanks for the encouragement.

Btw, the Hobbits are missing cuz my skills just aren't honed enough to do realistic human-like figures yet.

Yep! That damn fence plagued me more than anything else in the entire piece. It actually does have a texture to it, but I've still gotta mess around some more with the UV mapping to get it to look right.

I actually thought that the ivy would be the hardest thing, but I found a plugin for that. Just can't let it grow too much or I run out of memory, as I found out several times. As I said previously, the fence was the biggest pain for me. I honestly think I could've built a real fence around our property faster than I got that thing looking halfway decent.:D

Looks good. Lord of the Rings come to mind the moment I saw the picture.

I assume you took that as a reference?

Good nonetheless!

Thanks for the nice compliment! I'm nowhere near fast enough to be a pro, though lol.
