If you grab the addon Pitbull you can change the settings to make minimal size raid or party frames, personally one of my favorite addons for unitFrames.

Or if you dont want to create your own addon, simply get PowerAuras - Classic (http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/powerauras-classic) which can make event based textures, texts and sounds, very useful...
