I'm a nVidia fan. Never had issues with cards using their chipsets ...
I'm currently in the process of getting a dead PNY GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB PCIe replaced. They offer a 3 year warranty on the card and it expires in June of this year. The card died just before it expired. Also I never registered it on their site and they still honored the warranty with proof of purchase, can not say the same for other cards.
They both look like nice cards to be honest. I would lean to the ATI only because it supports DX11.
