I was actually going to say this, too. I was lucky enough to find my old download link in firefox so I could use that to get a proper, working version of Carb. The map blanking out all over the place without hovering over it is just unacceptable. Rythal's version doesn't do that. Funny how the fan update is more polished than the dbag author's.
