I went further. I blew out all my Carbonite settings completely, including the "Carbonite.lua" files for each character in the WTF.
I'll know soon if it works. Blizz wants me to download new game data first.
EDIT: Didn't work with 4.0003. Seems 4.0003 isn't talking to the quest server correctly.
EDIT: Tried with 4.0001 (which had seemed to work for me until I installed 4.0003), still no dice.
