The only way it [Windows Firewall] would deny WoW the ability to connect is if
you told it to. Firewalls don't just randomly block applications access to the internet while letting others have it (unless you've set it up that way). My guess is when it asked if you wanted to allow WoW the ability to go outside you accidentally told it no.
