You could place it like I and a few others do, and put it on top of the minimap and have it show only in combat (while the minimap hides in combat), and show only on mouseover.
Here is how I did it (ignore DBM placement, it was still moving from the top area to the lower one :P)
EDIT: I did all of the fading with Kong UI Hider, fyi. Awesome addon
